Jawai Re-Assigned To D-League

Minnesota Timberwolves center/forward Nathan Jawai has been re-assigned to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Minnesota?s NBA D-League affiliate, it was announced today.  The assignment is the 34th time this season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate and the second time Jawai has been assigned to Sioux Falls this season.  

Jawai rejoins the Skyforce following a two-game assignment with the team in March, when he averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 24.5 minutes in two wins over the Dakota Wizards in Sioux Falls.  

Appearing in 39 games, two starts, for the Timberwolves this season, Jawai has averaged 3.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 10.6 minutes.

Jones, Williams Named D-League Players Of The Week

Dwayne Jones and Marcus Williams of the Austin Toros were today named NBA Development League Co-Performers of the Week for games played during the week of March 22 when the Toros recorded a 4-0 record.  The award is the second for Jones and the first for Williams this season.

Jones, 6-11, 250-pounds, recorded four double-doubles last week in home wins over the Springfield Armor and Bakersfield Jam.  He scored more than 20 points in three games, including a 27-point outing on March 28 in a 122-110 win over the Jam in Austin.  For the week, Jones averaged 21.0 points, shooting 54 percent (26-of-48) from the field to go with 14.8 rebounds.  An NBA D-League All-Star, Jones is averaging 17.6 points (10th in the NBA D-League) on 60 percent shooting (264-of-442, 2nd in the NBA D-League) to go with a league-leading 16.0 rebounds in 46 games this season.

Williams, 6-7, 210-pounds, re-joined the Toros last week and scored more than 20 points in all four of the team?s games.  He scored a season-high 29 points on March 24 in a 118-89 win over Springfield.  For the week, Williams averaged 25.3 points, connecting on 61 percent from the field, to go with 5.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds.

Jerrells Named D-League Player Of The Week

Austin Toros guard Curtis Jerrells was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of March 15.  The award is the second for Jerrells? this year, and the third time a Toro has been honored this season.  

Jerrells, 6-1, 195-pounds, led the Toros to a 2-1 record last week, including road victories over the Dakota Wizards and Bakersfield Jam.  For the week, Jerrells averaged 32.7 points, shooting 56 percent (37-of-66) from the field, to go with 6.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds.  

Jerrells scored more than 30 points in each game last week, including a 33-point, 10-assists double-double in Austin?s 118-113 road win over the Bakersfield Jam on March 20.

Wink Adams Signs With Tulsa

The Tulsa 66ers announced Friday the acquisition of former UNLV guard Wink Adams.

The 6'0" free agent most recently played in Turkey, averaging 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals in 18 games.

Last season, Adams played in the NBA Summer League with the New York Knicks.

Mike Harris Named D-League Player Of The Week

Rio Grande Valley Vipers forward Mike Harris was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of March 8.  The award is Harris? second this year, and the fourth time a Viper has been honored this season.  

Harris, 6-6, 235-pounds, led the Vipers to a 3-1 record last week, including home victories over the Austin Toros and Tulsa 66ers.  Harris recorded double-doubles in all four Vipers games last week, including a 44-point night (16-of-18 from the field) on March 13, in a 126-103 home win over the 66ers.  The following night, Harris scored 36 points to go with 18 rebounds in a 106-101 home win over Tulsa.  Earlier in the week, Harris scored 25 and 22 points, respectively, in a two-game split with Austin.  During the week, Harris averaged 31.8 points, shooting 65 percent (46-of-71) from the field, to go with 13.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

Harris, who has appeared in 32 games for the Vipers this season and has earned call-ups to the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards this season, leads the NBA D-League in scoring (26.9 ppg) and ranks third in rebounds (10.3 rpg).

Michael Sweetney To Sign With D-League

Michael Sweetney will join the NBA Development League and is expected to clear waivers at noon on Thursday.

Sweetney was the ninth overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and most recently played in China.
