Jazz To Sign Georges Niang To Two-Way Contract

The Utah Jazz plan to sign Georges Niang to a two-way deal.

Utah will need to waive either Erik McCree or Naz Mitrou-Long to create a spot for Niang.

Niang has played for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G-League this season, averaging 18.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

Terrence Jones will sign with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G-League.

Jones signed a one-year deal for $2 million in China in July and was waived in November.

Santa Cruz has the first claim in the rotating waiver pool by which they will acquire Jones.

Jones spent the end of last season with the Bucks, though he also played 51 games with the Pelicans. Jones previously spent four seasons with the Rockets.

Michael Gbinije has signed with the Golden State Warriors.

Gbinije played nine games last season with the Detroit Pistons while spending most of the season in the G-League.

The Pistons waived Gbinije in July.

In Summer League, Gbinje averaged 7.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 29.4 minutes per game.

Georges Niang has signed a partially guaranteed deal with the Golden State Warriors.

Niang will likely play for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G-League.

Niang appeared in 23 games last season for the Indiana Pacers as a rookie. Niang also averaged 19.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 33.0 minutes per game over six games in the G-League. Niang was a second round pick in 2016 out of Iowa State.

Jabari Brown Named D-League Player Of The Week

Santa Cruz’s Jabari Brown was named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, March 20 through Sunday, March 26.

Brown (6-4, Missouri) led Santa Cruz to a 3-0 week, averaging 25.7 points (sixth in the league), 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He shot 50 percent from the field, including 14-for-25 from three-point range. The 3-0 week puts Santa Cruz one win away from a playoff berth.

On March 21, Brown scored a season-high 36 points on 12-for-18 shooting. He connected on 8-of-11 from behind the arc and added three rebounds and three assists in a 138-125 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. On March 25, he tallied 32 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 134-124 victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Phil Pressey of the Santa Cruz Warriors has been named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Monday, March 6 through Sunday, March 12. 

Pressey (5-11, Missouri) led Santa Cruz to a 3-0 week, averaging 24.3 points (on 51.9 percent shooting), 8.7 assists, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocks. 

For the season, Pressey is averaging 18.7 points, 8.1 assists 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals. He last appeared in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2015-16 season.
