Wizards To Sign Jules Bernard To Two-Way Contract

The Washington Wizards intend to sign wing Jules Bernard to a two-way contract. The Wizards opened a two-way spot by waiving John Butler Jr.

In eight games with the Capital City Go-Go of the G League, Bernard has averaged 21 points on 48/42/91 shooting splits. The 6-foot-6 wing has also averaged 7.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists and a steal per game.

The Washington Wizards have waived John Butler Jr. Butler was signed to a two-way contract with the Wizards and the Capital City Go-Go of the G League.

Butler did not appear in a game with Washington this season. In 10 G League games, the 7-foot center averaged 7.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 22.5 minutes per game.

The Washington Wizards are signing center John Butler Jr. to a two-way contract. Butler spent last season with the Portland Trail Blazers on a two-way contract.

Butler saw action in 19 NBA games with the Blazers. He averaged 2.4 points in 11.6 minutes per game. In his one year at Florida State, the 7-foot center averaged 5.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

Jay Huff has been named the 2022-23 NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year for his performances this season with the Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, and the South Bay Lakers.

Huff, who signed a Two-Way contract with the Wizards on March 1, led the NBA G League with 3.1 blocks per game in the regular season in 28 games played. He also ranked second in the league for block percentage (among players with at least 20 games played) with 65.9 percent. With a rating of 16.0, Huff had the league’s third-highest player impact estimate (a metric used to gauge a player’s all-around contribution to the game). For 2022-23, Huff recorded averages of 15.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game along with his 3.1 blocks.

Wizards Waive Devon Dotson From Two-Way Contract

The Washington Wizards have waived guard Devon Dotson from his Two-Way contract. Dotson was signed by Washington in late-November.

The third-year guard was signed when the Wizards had several injuries at the point guard position. With both Monte Morris and Delon Wright now healthy, fellow Two-Way guard Jordan Goodwin playing well, Washington no longer need Dotson for depth.

Dotson appeared in six NBA games with the Wizards. He also played in 21 games with the Capital City Go-Go of the G League. With the Go-Go, Dotson averaged 13.1 points, 5.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game.
