BCM Gravelines Atop French LNB Pro A Power Rankings

BCM Gravelines has recently stumbled in Eurocup play, but they haven’t lost a domestic league game since Dec. 10th against JDA Dijon and hold a one game lead over Chalon in the standings. But in our Floor Impact Counter rankings, Andrew Albicy, Ludovic Vaty, Pape Sy and company have been significantly better than their counterparts.

Gravelines has an average point differential of 14.7 points, compared to less than seven for Malcolm Delaney, Blake Schilb and Alade Aminu’s Chalon squad.

ASVEL has remained about the same since Tony Parker returned to the NBA. Parker had 23 points, eight assists and five rebounds in his last game with the team, which was a win to put them back to .500 at 4-4. They beat STB Le Havre over the weekend to improve to 8-8.

For Nancy, the loss of Nicolas Batum has proved more significant. They were 7-1 during Batum’s final game before returning to the Blazers and now sit with a 12-4 record.   

Individually, Eric Chatfield is the league's leading scorer at 21.4 points per game, while Lamont Hamilton is the leader in rebounds at 8.3 per game and Kareem Reid averages 8.6 assists.

Vaty has the league's highest PER, while Taylor Rochestie has the highest season FIC.

Henry Domercant Named Euroleague MVP For January

Henry Domercant of Unics Kazan has been named the Euroleague MVP for the month of January.

Domercant averaged 18.5 points, four rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Domercant shot 41.7% from three-point range.

Bo McCalebb Wins Euroleague MVP For Week 2 Of Top-16

Bo McCalebb established Euroleague career highs with 25 points and a performance index rating of 36, which netted him Top 16, Week 2 MVP honors.

Siena defeated Real Madrid 88-69 in the game.

McCalebb won the same honor in Week 9 of last year's Regular Season.

Olympiacos Releases Matt Howard

Olympiacos Piraeus released rookie forward Matt Howard, the club announced Wednesday.

Howard played only 19 minutes and scored 2 points in three Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season games. He also averaged 4 points and 1.5 rebounds in six Greek league games with the Reds.

Loukas Mavrokefalides of Spartak SPB has been named Eurocup Last 16, Game 2 MVP.

Mavrokefalides finished with 29 points and eight rebounds. Mavrokefalides made 10 of 18 two-point shots, both of his attempts from downtown and 3-of-5 from the free throw line.

Vladimir Veremeenko Named Top-16 Euroleague MVP For Week 1

Vladimir Veremeenko had his best game in the Euroleague yet to help Unics start the Top 16 with a tough 76-71 home win over Fenerbahce Ulker.

His performance earned him Top 16, Week 1 MVP honors and also made him the first Unics player to ever claim the Euroleague player of the week distinction.

Veremeenko scored 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting in addition to 11 rebounds, one steal, two blocks and 11 fouls drawn in amassing a performance index rating of 32, which was the best among all players on winning teams in the first set of Top 16 games.

Veremeenko also joins a short list of players to have won weekly MVP honors in both the Euroleague and Eurocup.

Patrick Beverly received Eurocup Last 16, Game 1 MVP honors. Beverley set season highs with 25 points and a performance index ranting of 27 to lead Spartak to a 57-65 road win at Buducnost Voli. 

The second best individual performance of the week came from Asvel Basket center Hilton Armstrong, who had 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting plus five rebounds.
