Luka Doncic Could Be Drafted Anywhere From First To Fifth

May 18, 2018 6:36 PM

Luka Doncic had 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists in Real Madrid's 92-83 win in the semifinals of the Euroleague Final Four.

Amongst the NBA decision-makers in attendance to watch Doncic were Vlade Divac of the Kings, Robert Sarver and James Jones of the Kings, as well as Donnie Nelson and Tony Ronzone of the Mavericks.

More NBA executives are expected to arrive in Belgrade for the final on Sunday.

Executives said Doncic has a fairly wide potential draft range from No. 1 to as far as No. 5. The Suns will draft first, followed by the Kings at No. 2 and Hawks at No. 3. The Grizzlies will select No. 4 while the Mavericks own the fifth pick.

Because Doncic could remain with Real Madrid, he has an unique amount of leverage to potentially influence which team drafts him.

Luka Doncic Won't Have Individual Workouts With Teams

May 2, 2018 10:57 AM

Luka Doncic won't have a workout for any teams leading to the 2018 NBA Draft.

Doncic's commitment to Real Madrid will keep him with the club through the draft due to the Spanish League playoffs.

“I don’t think that will be an issue,” Bill Duffy, Doncic’s agent, told Sporting News on Tuesday. “Playing in the Euroleague speaks for itself. What he has been able to do, it speaks to both the talent and preparedness for Luka. He has had a different level of experience than most of his peers. Euroleague is the next step to playing in the NBA.”

Doncic is expected to be a top-3 pick.

“He is committed to Real Madrid, all the way through,” Duffy said.

As one general manager told Sporting News, “With the video we have these days, I know what I need to know from looking at (Doncic) against other top players. Anyone who wants to pick him is going to want to talk to him, but the workout is not something that is going to keep you from picking him. I am not sure I need reels and reels more tape here.”
