Bonn Parts Ways With Joshiko Saibou For Participating In Anti-COVID-19 Measures Protest

Aug 4, 2020 1:42 PM

Telekom Baskets Bonn of the German league has parted ways with Joshiko Saibou for breaking health protocols by participating in a demonstration against COVID-19 measures in Berlin.

“The German clubs are currently working meticulously on hygiene concepts for the fans next season and for special health and safety guidelines,” Bonn managing director Wolfgang Wiedlich said in a statement. “Therefore, we can’t be responsible for a permanent risk of infection, which the player Saibou represents to his teammates and to other BBL teams.”

Saibou had been shown to support conspiracy theories around COVID-19 with various posts on his social media while criticizing the German Government’s measures for the crisis.

Igor Kokoskov has left the Sacramento Kings and the NBA's campus in Orlando to begin his next chapter as the new head coach of the EuroLeague’s Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.

“I’d like to congratulate Igor on his promotion to head coach of Fenerbahce and thank him for his dedicated time with the Kings,” said Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton. “He has been a valuable member of my coaching staff and his natural ability to guide our players will continue to inspire the team as we move forward in Orlando. We wish him all the best.”

During the offseason, Walton will conduct a search for a replacement to begin ahead of the 2020-21 season.

Kokoskov joined Walton’s staff in June 2019 after serving as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns during the 2018-19 season.
