Victor Wembanyama has signed a three-year contract with ASVEL Villeurbanne.

Wembanyama is widely considered the favorite to be picked first overall in the 2023 NBA draft.

“Victor is a unique player in the world, he’s the greatest prospect in French basketball over the past twenty years,” ASVEL president and former four-time NBA champion Tony Parker said, per the club. “He has everything to make a grat career and has the opportunity to be a future no. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. We’ll do everything to support his development, help his progress and help him achieve this goal.”

Wembanyama spent the last two seasons with Nanterre and had assignments with Pole France in France’s Third Division.

Vassilis Spanoulis, the all-time leading scorer in EuroLeague, announced his retirement on Instagram after a 21-year professional career.

"Basketball gave me a unique journey full of intense moments and great emotions. It gave me everything and I gave it everything," wrote Spanoulis on Instagram. "Olympiacos proved to be my destiny and my most beautiful port. I leave proud of what was greatly accomplished, but also of what was lost after a hard battle. Above all, I leave full, because I played longer than I dreamed."

The 39-year-old won the EuroLeague title three times and was voted the Final Four MVP each time.

Spanoulis also ranks first in the EuroLeague in assists, field goals made, free throws, and fouls drawn.

Spanoulis played 31 games for the Rockets during the 2006-07 season, averaging 2.7 points. 

Vasilije Micic has emerged as one of the top players in Europe and his NBA rights are owned by the Oklahoma City Thunder following last year's trade with the Philadelphia 76ers involving Al Horford.

Micic was the 52nd overall pick in 2014 and currently plays for Anadolu Efes in Istanbul. Micic was MVP of the EuroLeague this season.

Micic and the Thunder each appear to prefer to wait until after the draft to make a decision on whether he will join the team.

Micic's agent, Misko Raznatovic, recently said he doesn't want him to have the same fate as Vassilis Spanoulis, who played sparingly in his one season in the NBA.

Jeremy Lin announced that he will return to the Beijing Ducks via Instagram. 

Lin played with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League last season, averaging 19.8 points and 6.4 assists.

Lin previously played for the Ducks in the 2019-20 season. 

Ousmane Dieng has committed to become the first European prospect to join the New Zealand Breakers as part of the NBL's Next Stars program.

Dieng is the first European prospect to join the NBL's Next Stars program.

Dieng is currently the No. 14 prospect on ESPN's rankings for the 2022 draft.

Dieng was heavily recruited to play major college basketball and join the NBA's G-League Ignite program ahead of his entry into the 2022 NBA draft.
