Omri Casspi is retiring from professional basketball this offseason.

Casspi was drafted 23rd overall in 2009 by the Sacramento Kings.

Casspi returned to play in Israel in 2019, spending two seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Fifteen of the 20 teams of the Chinese Basketball Association have gone on record in favor of playing the 21-22 season without foreign players.

Five clubs, Beijing Ducks/Qingdao/Guangzhou/Fujian/Ningbo (a new teams) want to have foreign players.

If the CBA plays without any foreign players, they could play the season under some type of bubble environment. 

The Dallas Mavericks are making progress in their attempts to hire Igor Kokoskov as an assistant coach on the staff of Jason Kidd.

Kokoskov coached Luka Doncic on the Slovenian national team in 2017 and is the head coach of Fenerbahce.

Kokoskov has previous NBA experience as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns and as an assistant coach for several teams since 2000.

Trevor Gleeson is expected to be hired by the Toronto Raptors as an assistant coach on the staff of Nick Nurse.

Gleeson was head coach of the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League from 2013 until 2021. Gleeson was the NBL Coach of the Year for the second time in his career in 2021. Gleeson has won the NBL five times. 

Team USA suffered a stunning and sobering defeat in its first exhibition basketball game before the Olympics, getting outplayed by Nigeria in a 90-87 loss Saturday night.

Coming into the game, the Americans had been 54-2 in exhibition games since professionals started playing in 1992. Nine years ago, they beat Nigeria by 83 points in the London Olympics. Five years ago, Team USA beat Nigeria by 43 points in an exhibition.

Nigeria has five current NBA players, and that talent showed, particularly in the physical defense and the 3-point shooting. But the Americans started five All-NBA players and were out-executed.

Matthew Dellavedova has agreed to sign with Melbourne United. 

Dellavedova re-signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers before the 20-21 season on a one-year deal.

Dellavedova appeared in 13 games last season, averaging 2.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 17.2 minutes per game.

Nicolo Melli is close to signing with Olimpia Milano.

Melli spent the past two seasons in the NBA with the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks.

Melli previously played for Milano from 2010 until 2015 before stints with Brose Bamberg and Fenerbahce. 

Vasilije Micic has signed a three-year extension with Anadolu Efes, though the deal has NBA outs for each of the next two summers.

The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired Micic's NBA rights in December. 

Micic is the reigning EuroLeague and Final Four MVP.
