Draymond Green Apologizes To Teammates For Halftime Tirade

Feb 29, 2016 5:52 PM

Draymond Green apologized to his teammates on Monday for his halftime tirade in which he reportedly said "I am not a robot."

In a lengthy statement, he admitted he made a mistake and said he let his "emotions get the best of me."

"You know I made a mistake, I admitted my mistakes to my teammates, my coaching staff. I apologize to my teammates, my coaching staff, this organization. That wasn't the right way to handle what needed to be handled.

"As a leader of this team, I can't do that because it sets a bad precedent for how everything is ran around here, for how everything should be ran, for how everything has been ran, and how everything will be ran going forward. It won't happen again.

While he acknowledged his emotions "kind of got ahead of me," he said any reports that he quit on his team are incorrect.

"I will never quit on my coaching staff, I will never quit on this organization. This organization has given me everything that I can ask for. So I support and represent this organization to the best of my ability. That's not who I am. That's not who I've been and not who I will become."

Steve Kerr brushed off the tirade, saying: "We don't care."

"This is the way life is these days. There's 24-hour sports talk shows on radio and on TV. We're in the spotlight because of our record. So it doesn't bother us that everyone's talking about it. We know, handled it internally, and we all love each other and we're all good," he said.

Stephen A Smith: Kyrie Irving 'Ain't Too Happy Being In Cleveland

Feb 29, 2016 4:59 PM

Kyrie Irving may not be happy with his current situation with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Stephen A. Smith.

Irving signed a five-year, max extension with the Cavaliers on July 1st of 2014 before the team signed LeBron James in free agency and later traded for Kevin Love.

“Dating back to last year, I’ve been told that Kyrie Irving ain’t too happy being in Cleveland,” Smith stated on First Take this morning. “The situation is not ideal for him. I don’t know the particulars, I haven’t spoken to him personally. It’s something that I’ve been hearing for months; that under ideal circumstances he would prefer to be someplace other than Cleveland.”

Doc Rivers: We Don't Have Many Assets But We Keep Getting Guys

Feb 29, 2016 2:08 PM

Doc Rivers was asked how he would evaluate the roster moves he has made as president of the Los Angeles Clippers.

“I don’t know. I don’t evaluate," said Rivers. "I have too many people evaluating for me. I let them do it and I keep doing my job. I don’t care about the evaluations. I care about the team. We’re a team that doesn’t have a lot of leverage. We don’t have a lot of assets. But to me, we keep ending up with the Jeff Greens of the world, Cole Aldrich is terrific, Wes Johnson. … We’re getting these guys at minimum contracts.

“Even Josh [Smith] was a good gamble. It didn’t work out for us. But when you are in that minimum contract deal, you’re going to have some hits and misses and we’re fine with it and you keep doing it.”

Rivers was also asked about how he would describe his relationship with Steve Ballmer.

“He’s been phenomenal. He’s so supportive. Wants to win, like we all do. Involved, but lets us do our job. He is a great spirit to have in our organization and he’s the smartest man in the room every time he walks in the room. I just listen to him. I love his business.”

Clippers Found Some Blake Griffin Trade Rumors As 'Comical'

Feb 29, 2016 2:05 PM

Doc Rivers was asked what kept the Los Angeles Clippers from trading away Blake Griffin at the deadline.

“I love him. He’s a good player," said Rivers. "He was only having an MVP year before he got injured. I laugh at some of the stuff about moving him. I’ve said from Day One he is not going anywhere. Of course, every team should call. That’s their job. That doesn’t mean we have to listen and we didn’t.”

Rivers was also asked if the Clippers received a lot of inquiries on Griffin.

“There was some, but not a lot because we shot them down so quickly. Reading about some of these crazy rumors in the paper was comical to us. …

“You can take the call, but you don’t have to listen. We like our team. We’re in the job of trying to make our team better, but we like our team.”
