Paul George Had Interest In Trade To Spurs In 2017

Nov 20, 2019 10:55 AM

While the Los Angeles Lakers were believed to be Paul George's preferred destination when he requested a trade from the Indiana Pacers in 2017, the San Antonio Spurs were also on his list.

"I wanted to be traded to San Antonio," George said. "We wanted to go to San Antonio first, and we didn't make that happen."

A source confirmed the Spurs and Pacers held discussions, but San Antonio lacked the assets necessary to acquire George.

The Lakers decided not to deal the second overall pick in 2017 and Brandon Ingram for George as they believed they could eventually sign him in free agency.

George was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, re-signed with the franchise in 2018 and was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2019.

"As far as the Lakers, I wanted to go to L.A.," George said. "They didn't make that happen. They didn't put nothing together. So that's in the back of my mind [when I became a free agent]. That was in the back of my mind."

George and Leonard still wanted to play together.

"Since that moment, we were trying to pair up with one another," George said. "We were trying to make it work. [After being traded to Oklahoma City] I had obligations that I wanted to come back to Oklahoma and give it another shot... And then I felt that I needed to move on, I needed to go in another direction and I needed to at that point do what I wanted to do my whole career."

Rick Carlisle After Luka Doncic Triple-Double: 'He's A Very Special Player On A Special Roll'

Nov 21, 2019 2:31 AM

Luka Doncic finished with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in 25 minutes during the Dallas Mavericks' 142-94 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Doncic set a record for the least playing time in NBA history for a player with a 30-point triple-double, as well as being the first player to register more points, assists, and rebounds than an opposing team in a quarter since 2003.

"Look, he's a very special player on a special roll. There's not much else to say. This isn't a big newsflash now. This is getting to be pretty normal," said Rick Carlisle.

J.J. Barea added that he thought Doncic could average a triple-double for the season. Doncic is currently averaging 29.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game.

"But we were talking about if he can keep this up, and I was like, 'Yo, if somebody can keep this up, it's him.'" He plays on the ground. He's super smart. He's shooting the ball well. He's finishing really well. I see him keeping it up. It's not hard for him to do this right now. He's not forcing crazy s---. It's just coming. That's why I think he can keep this up. He's making it look easy."

David Fizdale Says He Receives Vote Of Confidence From James Dolan 'Every Game'

Nov 19, 2019 11:26 PM

David Fizdale says he receives encouragement from James Dolan "every game" despite the rumors of his dismissal.

"Every game, every game. Jim Dolan comes in and gives me a vote of confidence, a pat on my back and really has just been incredibly encouraging over the last year and a half or whatever it's been. All we talk about is just sticking to the process of making these guys better and building for a future of sustainable winning," said Fizdale.

The Knicks are 2-2 since Steve Mills and Scott Perry gave an impromptu press conference addressing the direction of the team.

Fizdale added that he didn't know the press conference would take place, but didn't mind it.

"But at the same time I wasn't disappointed our shocked or anything like that. It was like, "We do got to play better basketball. We do got to get to a place where we start to trust eachother and do the things necessary to give ourselves a chance to win every night. So we (he, Mills and Perry) spoke immediately after that and, like I said, I'm in the trench with those guys," said Fizdale.

Carmelo Anthony After Blazers Debut: 'The Physicality Of The Game Has Changed'

Nov 20, 2019 2:55 AM

Carmelo Anthony said he felt like he belonged following his season debut during the Portland Trail Blazers' 115-104 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Anthony, who started the game, finished with 10 points on 4-14 shooting from the field.

Anthony acknowledged how he has to adjust his game to fit with the physicality of the league.

"The physicality of the game has changed. The way that they call the game, the way that the game is played has changed, so you almost have to adjust again," said Anthony.

Terry Stotts was encouraged by Anthony's debut.

"To be honest, I thought he looked good. I thought offensively he got looks, he got good looks at the basket. I thought he got fouled at least two or three times taking it strong to the basket. He then came away empty, so that kind of affected his (stat) line," said Stotts.

Stotts added that Anthony may continue to start for the team.

Andrew Bogut Open To NBA Return In Right Situation

Nov 19, 2019 10:11 PM

Andrew Bogut is open to returning to the NBA later this season.

Last season, Bogut played in Australia and then joined the Golden State Warriors for the end of the regular season and playoffs.

"The NBA? Yeah, possibly," Bogut told RSN radio on Tuesday.

"I doubt the Warriors will come calling because I think they're going to go, obviously, full rebuild mode," said Bogut. "But I think it's definitely feasible if it's the right situation, but I won't go back just for the sake of going back.

"An opportunity to try and win a championship will be the main thing in the NBA. I wouldn't go back to the NBA just to play in the NBA, it's more that [trying to win a title] and somewhere that I'm kind of familiar with and somewhere where I feel comfortable for the family as well would be the other priority."

Bogut would also like to win a championship in Australia.

"I'd really like to have an NBL trophy, I think that's kind of what's driving me to get out there and be competitive and the team's faring well so we have a good chance to do that," he said.
