Adam Silver released an internal memo to league employees addressing the protests following George Floyd's death.

"We are being reminded that there are wounds in our country that have never healed. Racism, police brutality and racial injustice remain part of everyday life in America and cannot be ignored," wrote Silver in the memo.

Several NBA figures have participated in the protests. Jaylen Brown lead a peaceful protest in Atlanta, while Lonnie Walker volunteered to clean up damage following protests in San Antonio.

Silver also added that he is "heartened" by members of the NBA and WNBA speaking out. 

"I am heartened by the many members of the NBA and WNBA family -- players, coaches, legends, team owners and executives at all levels -- speaking out to demand justice, urging peaceful protest and working for meaningful change," Silver wrote. "Together, with our teams and players, we will continue our efforts."

Michael Jordan released an official statement discussing his sadness surrounding the death of George Floyd.

"I am deeply saddened, truly pained and plain angry," began Jordan's statement. "... I stand with those who are calling out the ingrained racism and violence toward people of color in our country. We have had enough."

Harrison Barnes said he agrees with Damian Lillard's statement that he would only return to the court if there was something at stake.

“I think Dame is right. If you come back and play, you want to be playing for something," Barnes told Howard Beck on Beck's The Full 48 podcast.

Lillard said earlier this week that he would only play out this season if the Blazers had a chance to make the playoffs.

Barnes added that this current Kings team needs more game-time reps to come together as a group.

“There’s no other simulation that we can get for games. This group, where we’re at, we need to play, we need to play together, and playing for something is important.”

Doc Rivers issued a statement on the ongoing protests following the death of George Floyd.

Several NBA figures have spoken out about the current protests, including Pistons head coach Dwane Casey.

Jaylen Brown also lead a peaceful protest in Atlanta on Saturday.

Rivers' statement is below:

My father was a 30-year veteran of the Chicago police department, and if he were still with us right now, he'd be hurt and outraged by the senseless acts of racial injustice that continue to plague our country," Rivers said. "Being black in America is tough. I've personally been called more racial slurs than I can count, been pulled over many times because of the color of my skin, and even had my home burned down.

The response we are seeing across the nation, to the murder of George Floyd, is decades in the making. Too often, people rush to judge the response, instead of the actions that prompted it. We have allowed too many tragedies to pass in vain. This isn't an African-American issue. This is a human issue. Our society must start getting comfortable with the uncomfortable conversation and do the right thing. Silence and inactivity are not acceptable anymore. Now is the time to speak. November is the time to vote. Your words carry a lot of weight and your ballots carry even more. The day has come to confront real problems, and be part of the solution.

NBA players expect that their families may not be able to join them at the Disney World complex until September should the season resume, according to Tim Reynolds of the AP.

Reynolds adds that a lot of details remain uncertain at this moment, though that is the expectation among certain players. 

The NBA is reportedly targeting a July 31st date to resume the season, with games likely to be played in a bubble environment at Disney World.

Tom Thibodeau is reportedly the "heavy favorite" to become the next head coach of the New York Knicks, sources told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

Thibodeau is so confident of receiving the job that he is making calls to assemble a coaching staff.

Thibodeau and Knicks president Leon Rose previously worked together while Rose was still an agent at CAA. 

Mike Miller and Kenny Atkinsons also remain candidates for the role. 

Dwane Casey released an open letter addressing the death of George Floyd on the Detroit Pistons' site.

Casey compared his experiences growing up in Kentucky to the outrage following Floyd's death in light of raising his son.

Towards the end of his statement, Casey calls for systemic change and a cultural shift.

Casey's full statement is below:

“Fifty-four years ago I was an eight-year-old boy living in rural Kentucky when the schools were desegregated.  I walked into a white school where I was not wanted nor welcomed.  At that time there were no cell phones to record my treatment, no cable news stations with 24/7 coverage, no social media to record the reality of the situation or offer support nor condemnation.  But I can remember exactly how I felt as an eight-year-old child.  I felt helpless.  I felt as if I was neither seen, nor heard, nor understood.  As I have watched the events unfold in the days following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, a city where I coached and once called home, I see how many people continue to feel those same feelings - helpless, frustrated, invisible, angry.

I understand the outrage because it seems the list continues to grow: Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd.  The injustices continue to mount and nothing seems to be changing.

Fifty-four years later, my son is now eight years old and I look at the world he is growing up in and wonder, how much has really changed? How often is he judged on sight?  Is he growing up in a world where he is seen, and heard, and understood?  Does he feel helpless?  Will he be treated like George Floyd or Ahmaud Abrey?  What have we really done in the last 54 years to make his eight-year-old world better than mine was?  We all have to be and do better.

We have to change the way we see and hear each other.  We have to work together to find solutions to make the justice system just.  Black, white and brown people have to work together to find new answers.   The only way we can stop the systemic problems that people of color have faced all our lives is through honesty and transparency.  We have to understand why people are at their limit at this moment.  It takes empathy, in its truest form.  It takes a culture shift, it takes action.  Let’s stop the injustice now.  Let’s not allow another generation to continue to live in a world where they are treated as unequal.  Now is the time for real change.”

Nike officially announced the cancellation of the 2020 Elite Youth Basketball League due to the pandemic. 

"As we continue to navigate the evolving impact of COVID-19, we are canceling the remainder of the 2020 EYBL season. This was not a decision taken lightly, but the health and safety of our athletes, families, fans and employees is our top priority. We look forward to bringing the EYBL back in 2021," released the company in a statement.

The EYBL is considered the top grassroots circuit featuring the highest rated high school players.

The events culminate with the Peach Jam in July, which is also considered the most prestigious AAU tournament.

Jayson Tatum will likely receive a max contract offer from the Boston Celtics, according to Brian Windhorst.

Tatum will be eligible for a contract extension after this season.

"If Jayson Tatum is the superstar that they envisioned when they began this whole rebuilding process when they traded Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce for all of those draft picks hoping to land a player like this, we could see 'Glory Days' for the Celtics again.

"But it's very much up in the air, and I'm gonna tell ya, they're gonna have to pay him like it because after this season ends, he is going to get most likely a max contract. They're going to bet that he becomes that player," said Windhorst on Sportscenter.

Tatum is set to earn $9.9 million next season.
