Hawks Not In On Trading For Jerami Grant Right Now

Jan 28, 2022 8:50 AM

The Atlanta Hawks have been linked to Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant in trade talks, but that seems to be over for now. While Atlanta did engage Detroit in conversations, it seems like that was a while ago and both sides have moved on.

Grant is one of the better players available on the trade market approaching the 2022 trade deadline. He reportedly gave Pistons general manager Troy Weaver a list of teams he'd be opened to be traded to.

It's also been reported that any team trading for Grant should be willing to entertain a contract extension with the versatile forward. Grant is reportedly seeking a four-year deal worth north of $110 million.

Hawks Held Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter For Marcus Smart Talks With Celtics

Jan 27, 2022 10:30 AM

Before trading Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks this month, the Atlanta Hawks held talks with the Boston Celtics on a deal involving Reddish and Kevin Huerter for Marcus Smart, sources told Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

Smart has often been mentioned in trade rumors over the past few years. Smart would help improve Atlanta's defense alongside Trae Young.

Fischer reports that it is unclear how far the dialogue between the Hawks and Celtics progressed before the trade with the Knicks was executed.

Huerter signed a four-year, $65 million extension with the Hawks before the current season.

Hawks Looking For First Round Pick And Starter for John Collins

Jan 27, 2022 10:10 AM

The Atlanta Hawks have set an asking price for John Collins and, surprisingly, it's not all that high of a price. Atlanta is looking for a first-round pick and starting caliber player in return for Collins.

The Hawks already traded Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks and appear open to making even more moves. Atlanta is looking to reset their cap sheet, in what has been a disappointing season. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari are both reportedly available, as well.

Collins has averaged 16.8 points and 7.9 rebounds this season. He's also shooting a career-best 41.4% from behind the arc. The Hawks re-signed Collins to a five-year, $125 million contract this offseason.

Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons has been mentioned as a trade target for the Hawks, while they have also inquired with the San Antonio Spurs on Derrick White. The Spurs have been linked to Collins in free agency.

Jan 25, 2022 3:52 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers have remained primarily engaged with the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings on a Ben Simmons trade of late.

Both the Hawks and Kings, meanwhile, have emerged as strong suitors for Jerami Grant. There are a number of other teams interested in Grant such as the Chicago Bulls, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers.

The Hawks have also grown more active in searching for a trade of John Collins.

Cam Reddish: I Feel Like I Can Be A Star

Jan 17, 2022 10:48 AM

The New York Knicks are hopeful Cam Reddish can tap into his upside following his trade from the Atlanta Hawks.

“I feel like I can be a star,” Reddish said Saturday in his first public comments as a Knick after his new team routed the Hawks in Atlanta. “I feel like I could be a legit star. That’s what I’m working to be. It’s pretty simple.”

Asked what he feels he’s accomplished in his NBA career, Reddish said, “Not much. I feel it’s been a roller coaster. I learned a lot. I’m still blessed to be in this position. It’s big learning experience, and I’m ready for the next step.”

On Saturday, Nate McMillan seemed forlorn discussing Reddish’s departure, saying he felt he could have turned him into a Paul George-type wing.

“Man, I love being Cam Reddish, to be honest with you,” Reddish said when asked about the comparison to George. “But I do really like Paul George’s game. I do see where the similarities come from. Much respect to PG, but I love being me.”

According to multiple sources, Reddish and RJ Barrett weren’t especially close at Duke. Barrett and Zion Williamson were very close.
