West, Wafer Laugh About Friday's Fight

Oct 31, 2010 5:53 PM

Delonte West and Von Wafer have moved on from their locker room fight on Friday and were laughing about it on Sunday.

"I'm competitive, he's competitive, as long as it's for the betterment of the team, there's nothing wrong with healthy competition and pushing each other to get better," West said. "Things went a little far, but at the same time, we were able to move past that. We're professionals."

Asked if he felt the two had patched things up, West added: "Oh yeah, no question. We laughed about it [Sunday]."

The two players were guarding each other when West repeatedly fouled Wafer, according to a report on Hoopsworld.com, which first reported the incident. Wafer headed to the locker room in the team's practice facility in Waltham, but was later followed by West, who threw the first punch and the two wrestled, according to the website.

Celtics Won't Discipline West, Wafer For Fight

Oct 30, 2010 10:29 AM

The Celtics have decided to simply brush off Friday's altercation between teammates Delonte West and Von Wafer.

West is currently serving a 10-game suspension handed down by the league for his legal issues and Wafer is Boston's 15th man.

"It should have stayed inside the locker room and it didn't," coach Doc Rivers said.

"That's OK, we're just going to leave it alone. [Fights] happen. Some are fine, some are not. I'm not going to say one way or another on this one."

Rivers Empathetic To Hype Surrounding Heat

Oct 26, 2010 9:44 PM

Doc Rivers said prior to Tuesday night's opener against the Heat that Miami deserves to be hyped and talked about heading into the season.

The Heat made waves this summer by signing LeBron James and Chris Bosh to play alongside established star Dwyane Wade.

"I understand it. Everybody should be talking about it, but it's not our concern," Rivers told reporters. "We don't care about it, but they deserve to be talked about. Listen, this has never happened so we should be talking about it."

Rivers was referring to the trio of Wade, James and Bosh, who all came into the league together in 2003. Even before they stepped out onto the court together, the new-look Heat were showered with tremendous expectations.

"I think you have to embrace expectations," Rivers added. "I've been on the other side and I'll take expectations all day."
