Ray Allen Doesn't Believe Lost Season Would Mean End Of Big 3 Era

Aug 15, 2011 12:44 PM

Ray Allen doesn't believe a lost NBA season would mean the end of the current era of the Celtics.

Allen and Kevin Garnett have just one year remaining on their respective contracts.

“I don’t think so,” said Allen. “They’re not going to send us away because possibly we miss a season. We’re not going to say we’re done and we’re not going to play any more. I still have a lot left in me and I’m sure that Kevin (Garnett) feels the same. At this stage of the game I’m sure he’s rejuvenated and he’ll be ready to go.

“Hard to say what (the lockout) does,” said Allen. “When you stop so abruptly – it wouldn’t be anything I would accept. As far as being ready to play another season, I would just be ready. Especially if you get a whole year off. It’s not as if you go into the next year and say I’m done. I’m not going to play anymore. We’re competitors. When you lose a season like that, you come back and you’re ready to get after it. It will fuel our fire, and enable us to go after it a little more next year.”

Rondo, Stephen Jackson Set Oct. 1 Deadline For Overseas Decision

Aug 13, 2011 11:58 AM

Rajon Rondo and Stephen Jackson have set an Oct. 1 deadline for deciding if they'll play in Europe or elsewhere or wait out the labor impasse that threatens to wipe out games and possibly the entire 2011-12 season.

"I'm going to say that we're going to be playing on Oct. 1," said Jackson, "but deep down inside, I'm not sure."

"It just depends," Rondo said. "My agent and I will sit down and we'll talk about it and discuss what's best for me."

Rondo declared for the NBA Draft in 2006 after his sophomore season.

Rajon Rondo has full range of motion in the elbow he dislocated during the Eastern Conference Semifinals, but some swelling remains.

He has not fully participated in basketball activities yet, though he has done some non-contact drills.

“The elbow’s getting better - just got another check-up today on it,’’ he said. “I will continue to work hard. It’s just the swelling. I can bend it all the way out, so I’m fine.’’

Davis Prefers To Remain With Celtics

Aug 3, 2011 11:13 AM

Unrestricted free agent Glen Davis remains interested in remaining with the Celtics.

“Most definitely, that’s my No. 1 priority - see if I can come back here and play,’’ he said. “And if I can’t, go somewhere else.’’

In May, Davis had seemed to grow tired of the treatment from Doc Rivers.

“I think in a lot of situations you have to air things out,’’ said Davis. “Especially with a player that’s growing. You’ve got to talk and clear things up, and I think that time will come whenever the opportunity comes. I’m just trying to focus on working out.’’

Davis is also interested in signing overseas, however.

“I would definitely be interested, to get the experience and also to keep that edge,’’ he said. “I just really think a lot of guys over there love to play the game. It’s not about the money. It’s about playing the game that we love.’’
