Kemba Walker is unlikely to play in Game 4 due to a bone bruise in his left knee, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.
The decision to sit Walker was made following a morning workout.
Kemba Walker is questionable for Game 4 due to a bone bruise in his left knee.
"Kemba was sore today. I think that he'll go through stuff in the morning tomorrow and have a better idea on him," said Brad Stevens.
Walker scored six points in 34 minutes in Game 3.
Stevens added that Robert Williams is doubtful for Sunday due to a sprained left ankle.
Jayson Tatum scored 50 points in the Boston Celtics' 125-119 win over the Brooklyn Nets in Game 3.
Tatum added six rebounds and seven assists.
"It's just one of those nights," said Tatum afterwards. "Trying to protect home court, trying to get a win at all costs. Sometimes, nights like these are needed."
The Celtics are now down 2-1 in the series.
Marcus Smart credited the team's defense on the Nets' supporting cast for the win. Nets players outside of James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving scored just 23 points in the game on 8-of-25 shooting.
"Those guys hurt us in Game 2 especially. Joe [Harris] went off, I think, hit seven 3s in Game 2, and they fed off that. So for us to be able to come down and just hold them steady and not let them hurt us as well as those guys going off, it was big for us.
"And for our guys to come in and do exactly what those guys did to us in Game 2, and that's contributing, both ends of the floor, is exactly what we need and we got to continue that," said Smart.
Kyrie Irving discussed the potential reaction he could receive from the TD Garden crowd for Game 3, saying that he hopes it doesn't cross the line.
The Nets, currently up 2-0 in the series, play the Celtics on Friday.
"I am just looking forward to competing with my teammates and hopefully, we can just keep it strictly basketball; there's no belligerence or racism going on -- subtle racism. People yelling s--- from the crowd, but even if it is, it's part of the nature of the game and we're just going to focus on what we can control," said Irving.
When asked if he heard racist comments aimed towards him at TD Garden, Irving responded that he "was not the only one that can attest to this."
The Celtics will be at 25% capacity for Game 3, then be at "near full capacity" for Game 4 on Sunday.
Jayson Tatum left the third quarter of the Boston Celtics' 130-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets due to an eye injury.
Tatum, who was accidently poked in the eye by Kevin Durant, did not return to the game.
"He went back out on the court [and] tried to readjust to the light out there, and he was really struggling," said Brad Stevens of Tatum's eye. "He got scratched pretty good. It looks pretty red, it looks pretty swollen to me.
"I don't know what that means. I don't know what the exact diagnosis is. But he's uncomfortable right now."
Tatum had nine points while shooting 3-for-12 from the field before leaving the game.
The Nets lead 2-0 in the series.
Robert Williams is expected to play in Game 1 of the Boston Celtics' first round series against the Brooklyn Nets.
Williams has been battling turf toe and last played on May 9th.
Williams averaged 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 18.9 minutes per game this season.
The Boston Celtics have had a disappointing season but made the playoffs as the seventh seed.
"Brad Stevens is going to be back," said Adrian Wojnarowski on ESPN. "The idea that his job might be in jeopardy is just not accurate. This is a coach who has been to the Conference Finals three out of four years. They're going to certainly continue with Brad Stevens. They have had a talent drain over the last few years."
Wojnarowski said the Celtics, however, will likely make some roster changes.
"I don't think you are going to see any changes in their leadership," added Wojnarowski.
