Tristan Thompson To Kings, Delon Wright To Hawks, Kris Dunn To Celtics In Three-Way Trade

Jul 30, 2021 7:06 PM

The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade Tristan Thompson to the Sacramento Kings as part of a three-way trade with the Atlanta Hawks. Wright will be routed to the Hawks, while Boston will acquire Kris Dunn.

The move gives the Celtics some luxury tax flexibility as they attempt to re-sign Evan Fournier.

Thompson signed a two-year, $19 million contract with the Celtics last offseason. Thompson gives Sacramento insurance at center heading into the free agency of Richaun Holmes.

Dunn signed a two-year, $10 million deal with the Hawks last offseason as well, but was largely limited due to ankle and back injuries.

Celtics To Sign Sam Hauser To Two-Way Contract

Jul 30, 2021 8:46 AM

The Boston Celtics are adding Sam Hauser on a Two-Way contract for 2021-22. Hauser went undrafted out of Virginia at the 2021 NBA Draft.

Hauser was a four-year college player. He started his college career at Marquette before transferring to Virginia for the 2020-21 season. Hauser took advantage of the early entry rules for college seniors and chose to stay in the draft, as opposed to returning to UVA for a bonus season.

The 6'8'' sharpshooter was very nearly a 50/40/90 player as a senior and for his career. In his final college season, Hauser averaged 16 points per game on 50.3% shooting overall, 41.7% from behind the arc and 89.6% at the free throw line. He also grabbed 6.8 rebounds per contest.

Bradley Beal Considering Trade Request Before Draft

Jul 24, 2021 1:39 PM

Bradley Beal is considering requesting a trade from the Washington Wizards before Thursday's draft. Beal is set to enter the final season of his existing contract with the Wizards.

"He knows he has to make a decision before the draft," one source with direct knowledge of Beal's thinking told Bleacher Report.

While Beal has been adamant he wants to remain with the Wizards, a second source described the situation as now fluid.

If Beal were to request a trade, he would want to end up with a team with an established winning environment. Beal doesn't have a list of preferred destinations, but he would welcome a trade to the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat or Philadelphia 76ers.

"Beal's the guy right now," one assistant general manager said. "The one guy that could be available, that could help you win the whole thing."

A trade during the week of the draft is helpful for all parties considering the known quantity of draft position as opposed to future picks.

"It's just so much easier to make a deal when you know what the draft picks are, as opposed to future picks," another high-ranking team official said.

Danny Ainge Wants To Work For Team Again In Reduced Capacity

Jul 17, 2021 3:35 PM

Danny Ainge left the Boston Celtics this offseason and he has since been linked with a position with the Utah Jazz. Ainge is a close friend of Utah owner Ryan Smith. The Jazz parted ways with Dennis Lindsey this offseason with Justin Zanik taking over the front office.

“I want to work again,” Ainge said from the West Coast this past week. “I just don’t want to do the crazy lifestyle that I had for the last 18 years. I have nothing right now. I just got done with a long walk and swim this morning. And taking my wife to tennis. We just got back from spending lots of time with our parents that we haven’t seen since the pandemic started, so we had some good times with our family and there’s nothing on the horizon as I see it. The [Massachusetts] house is for sale but we’re not moving for sure. We’re not certain on that.”

Ainge ran the Celtics since 2003 and was replaced by Brad Stevens.

Jayson Tatum: I Was Mad About All-NBA Omission, It Had Nothing To Do With Money

Jul 13, 2021 8:56 AM

Jayson Tatum was left off the All-NBA teams this season, finishing behind Paul George for the final forward spot. Tatum missed out on approximately $33 million with the omission.

“Yeah, I was mad about it and it had nothing to do with the money,” Tatum said. “I just felt like I increased my assists, my points, my rebounds, I clearly had a better season this year than last season. With COVID and how it affected our team, I guess people held that against me. I clearly should have made one of those teams but it will happen, but just get better for next year.

“How could you watch my game and the season I had and think I wasn’t one of the best 15 players?”

Tatum said he is now 100 percent healthy after battling COVID-19 and its after effects for the final five months of the season.

Celtics Interested In Landry Fields, Allison Feaster For GM Job

Jul 8, 2021 10:41 AM

The Boston Celtics are interested in hiring Justin Fields as general manager under Brad Stevens.

Fields is currently working for the Atlanta Hawks after beginning his front office career with the San Antonio Spurs. Bleacher Report indicates Fields "very much remains a top choice" of Brad Stevens for the general manager job.

If the Celtics are unable to hire Fields away from the Hawks, vice president of player development and former WNBA veteran Allison Feaster would be the leading candidate for the job. Feaster participated in Ime Udoka's final interview.

“It seems like she's getting some serious traction,”  said one assistant general manager.
