Jayson Tatum: I Love Our Team, I Love The Guys That We Got

Jul 27, 2022 9:26 AM

Jayson Tatum was one of several current and former NBA stars to attend the premiere of "Point Gods" in New York City on Tuesday night. While walking the red carpet, Tatum was asked about the rumors his Boston Celtics might be in the mix to trade for Kevin Durant.

Tatum didn't address the rumors specifically. However, he did say he likes what the Celtics have done this offseason. Boston traded for Malcolm Brogdon and signed Danilo Gallinari.

“We got two new pieces,” Tatum said. “I love our team."

Tatum earlier deflected questions about his input in a potential trade. Tatum said that trades aren't his call, so he doesn't worry much about reported rumors.

“I don’t make anything of it,” Tatum said. “I just play basketball.”

When asked about what it would be like to play with Durant, Tatum praised his former Team USA teammate.

“I’ve played with him during the Olympics,” Tatum said of Durant. “He’s a great player. That’s not my decision. I love our team. I love the guys that we got. I don’t know if that report is true or not.”

Jaylen Brown Wants To Remain With Celtics

Jul 26, 2022 1:29 PM

Jaylen Brown wants to remain with the Boston Celtics despite trade talks involving Kevin Durant.

When Jermaine Wiggins of WEEI in Boston previously claimed Brown told him he wouldn't re-sign with the Celtics in 2024, Brown was perplexed and denied the report behind closed doors.

Brown is a one-time All-Star and widely considered one of the best two-way wings in the NBA.

Sources believe the Nets are looking to drive up the market for Durant and leaked the conversations with the Celtics to entice the Toronto Raptors or Miami Heat to improve their offer.

Nets Believed To Have Talked Trades With Celtics In Mid-July

Jul 26, 2022 9:28 AM

The Boston Celtics have engaged the Brooklyn Nets in trade talks for Kevin Durant. When those talks happened remains an open question.

Reports came out on Monday from ESPN and The Athletic that Boston and Brooklyn have talked Durant trades. The Celtics reportedly offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first-round pick to the Nets for Durant. Brooklyn countered by asking for Brown, Marcus Smart, another rotation player and multiple first-round picks.

When these talks happened has been up for debate. Zach Lowe of ESPN said on his Lowe Post podcast that he believes the conversations took place "around July 16". ESPN colleague Brian Windhorst said earlier in the day on Monday that the conversations between the Celtics and Nets "weren't new".

All reporting continues to insist that no deal is imminent between Boston and Brooklyn.

Celtics Offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, First Round Pick for Kevin Durant

Jul 25, 2022 8:19 AM

The Boston Celtics just made the NBA Finals, but they seem motivated to make it back and finish the job this time. That has Boston entering the fray for Kevin Durant.

The Celtics reportedly offered the Brooklyn Nets a package of Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a future first-round pick for Durant. Brooklyn reportedly countered with asking for Marcus Smart, additional draft picks and maybe one more rotation player for Durant.

Durant asked for a trade from the Nets shortly before free agency opened on June 30. Boston has made roster upgrades by trading for Malcolm Brogdon and signing Danilo Gallinari. The Celtics didn't give up any rotation players in acquiring Brogdon and Gallinari.

Celtics Engage Nets In Trade Talks For Kevin Durant, Jaylen Brown Mentioned As Possible Centerpiece

Jul 25, 2022 3:02 AM

The Boston Celtics have engaged the Brooklyn Nets in trade talks over Kevin Durant, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Wojnarowski adds that although the Celtics are no closer than any other team in trading for Durant, the potential to add Jaylen Brown as a centerpiece in a deal makes them "formidable" partners.

The Celtics could offer Brown, three unprotected first-round picks in 2025, 2027, and 2029, as well as pick swaps in 2024 and 2026 in exchange for Durant.

The Heat, Suns, and Raptors have previously been mentioned as possible Durant destinations, with the Celtics also in frequent contact with the Nets.

No deals for Durant are believed to have gained any significant traction due to the Nets' demands for a massive return.

Jayson Tatum is reportedly considered off limits in any potential deal.

Luke Kornet, Celtics Agree To Two-Year Contract

The Boston Celtics have agreed to re-sign backup big man Luke Kornet. Kornet will reportedly ink a two-year contract with the Celtics.

The 7-foot-1 forward/center has spent parts of the last two seasons with Boston. Kornet has also played for the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks during that time.

The Celtics prize Kornet for his shooting range and his ability to stay ready, despite sometimes going long stretches without playing. Boston also likes Kornet's lively presence on the bench and in the locker room.

Celtics Acquire Malcom Brogdon From Pacers For Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, First Rounder

Jul 1, 2022 1:37 PM

The Boston Celtics have agreed to acquire Malcolm Brogdon from the Indiana Pacers for Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith and a 2023 first round pick. Boston will also include Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts and Juwan Morgan in the deal.

The Pacers have been shopping Brogdon throughout the offseason as the team acquired Tyrese Haliburton from the Sacramento Kings at the deadline.

Brogdon signed a two-year, $45 million extension with the Pacers last October, which made him ineligible to be traded until the new league calendar year.

The Celtics wanted to add "a true playmaking point guard" this offseason, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

For the Pacers, they create enough cap space to offer a maximum contract.
