Danilo Gallinari Has Torn Left Meniscus

Aug 28, 2022 10:21 AM

Danilo Gallinari has been diagnosed with a torn left meniscus. Gallinari was injured while playing for Italy in a World Cup Qualifier against Georgia on Saturday.

The extent of the tear has yet to be released. The chosen surgical options have also not been released. Meniscus tears have different ways they can be handled. Each comes with a different timeline for the player to return to playing.

Both the Italian National Team and Gallinari confirmed he will miss EuroBasket 2022, which is set to tip off next month.

Gallinari was signed to a two-year, $13.3 million contract this offseason by the Boston Celtics. The hope is Gallinari, along with fellow offseason pickup Malcolm Brogdon, will provide the bench production Boston was lacking in their NBA Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, One FRP From Celtics Was Best Offer Nets Received For Kevin Durant

Aug 24, 2022 6:02 PM

When the Brooklyn Nets agreed to accommodate Kevin Durant's trade request on the eve of free agency, they expected to receive overwhelming trade offers.

"The best offer I'm told that the Nets had on the table was from the Celtics," said Shams Charania of The Athletic on the Rich Eisen Show. "Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first round pick."

On the evening of Durant's trade request, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that one team who submitted a trade proposal to the Nets for Durant called back with an improved offer. The trade market for Durant never actually materialized the way the Nets postured it would.

The Nets and Durant agreed to move forward in their partnership after it was clear there wasn't a trade on the table that would satisfy the parties involved.

Durant is entering Year 1 of a four-year, $198 million extension.

Celtics Have Yet To Include Marcus Smart, Robert Williams In Trade Offer To Nets

Aug 22, 2022 11:08 AM

The Boston Celtics have yet to include Marcus Smart or Robert Williams in a proposal to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Celtics are viewed around the league as the "clear cut-answer as the team that has the ingratiates to make a deal with Brooklyn happen."

When the Celtics offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first round pick in July, Brooklyn countered by requesting the inclusion of Smart, more draft picks and potentially one additional rotation player.

The Celtics have the necessary pieces to execute a trade and Brooklyn has listened, but a gap on an actionable deal remains.

Denzel Valentine, Celtics Agree To Camp Deal

Aug 22, 2022 9:44 AM

The Boston Celtics and free agent wing Denzel Valentine have agreed to a training camp deal. Valentine ended last season playing for the Maine Celtics of the G League.

Valentine is entering his seventh NBA season. He was with the Chicago Bulls for the first five seasons of his career. Last season, Valentine spent 22 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers and two with the Utah Jazz in the NBA.

The 6-foot-5 wing played in 12 games for the Maine Celtics. In 31.9 minutes per game, Valentine averaged 14.6 points, 10.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game.

Valentine will compete for one of the two-to-three open regular season roster spots the Celtics have. Boston is also reportedly brining Noah Vonleh, Bruno Caboclo and Brodric Thomas to training camp.

Jayson Tatum: 'I Was Miserable' After NBA Finals Loss

Aug 22, 2022 9:11 AM

Jayson Tatum was candid in a wide-ranging interview with Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks. One thing Tatum talked about was how his Boston Celtics losing to the Golden State Warriors left him miserable for days afterward.

“Those three, four days afterward, I was miserable,” Tatum said. “I really, really was. It took some time to kinda get out of that funk and just enjoy my life, enjoy being around my son and my family.”

Tatum said what was particularly painful was himself running out of gas during the season's biggest moment.

“It’s just tough. Sometimes I come off as so laid back, I don’t know if people understand how much I invest into this game, how much I care, how hard I work," Tatum said. "But it was just so tough because I literally gave everything that I had. To feel like I ran out, that I didn’t have anything left to give, and we were so close. I didn’t have an appetite. I didn’t want to talk to anybody. I didn’t want to go anywhere. I was just in my house for like thee, four days straight.”

Jayson Tatum Played Through Wrist Fracture Last Season

Aug 21, 2022 8:09 PM

In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum said he played with a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist at the end of last season. Tatum said he injured the wrist with about two months to play in the regular season.

The Boston star said he reinjured the wrist in the second round of the playoffs when he was fouled by Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. Tatum said that reinjury occurred when he fell following a dunk that he was fouled on by Antetokounmpo.

According to Tatum, no one but Celtics personnel were aware of the injury. He regularly wore a brace on the injured wrist, but never when the media was present. Tatum said he won't use the injury as any sort of excuse because "if I'm going out there to play, nothing matters".

No Long-Term Concerns With Robert Williams' Knee

Aug 21, 2022 10:08 AM

Robert Williams had to have knee surgery in late-March after tearing the meniscus in his left knee. Williams then seemed to rarely be at full health when he returned during the Boston Celtics NBA Finals run.

The good news is that there are no long-term concerns for Williams' knee. No further surgery was deemed necessary after the Finals. Williams was told to get plenty of rest, and he should be fully available at the start of training camp.

Williams is coming off a breakout season. The athletic big man made the All-Defensive second team. He was also a candidate for Defensive Player of the Year. This upcoming season will see Williams start the first year of a four-year contract extension with the Celtics.

Celtics Not Close To Kevin Durant Trade

Aug 17, 2022 8:35 AM

The Boston Celtics have been rumored to be interested in making a trade with the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant. In some circles, Boston has even been considered the favorite to land Durant.

However, recent reporting is that Boston isn't close to dealing for the Nets superstar. In fact, the Celtics and Nets haven't even had any trade discussions of substance.

Brooklyn is continuing to drive a high asking price for Durant, while hoping they can convince him to play for the Nets next season. From his side, Durant hasn't moved off his trade request. He's also told Brooklyn he won't return unless they make changes in the front office and on the coaching staff.

Celtics Considered 'Unofficial Front-Runner' For Kevin Durant

Aug 16, 2022 11:16 AM

The Boston Celtics appear to be the "unofficial front-runner" for a potential trade with the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant, according to executives that have spoken with Sam Amick of The Athletic

The Celtics have made Jaylen Brown the centerpiece of their offer for Durant. Brown is clearly the second best player on the Celtics and has made an All-Star Game.

The Nets are using the presence of Brown in trade talks as a baseline in negotations with other teams, sources tell Amick. The messaging from Brooklyn is that they're not interested in discussing deals with teams unless at least their second best player is included.

Brooklyn had reportedly hoped to keep Durant if trade offers from teams didn't improve, but his meeting with Joe Tsai has signaled that he will continue to agitate for a trade and is not interested in remaining with the franchise.
