Tobias Harris Expected To Receive Interest From 76ers, Grizzlies, Jazz, Mavs, Nets

Apr 26, 2019 4:17 PM

Tobias Harris is expected to receive significant interest in free agency this offseason.

While the Philadelphia 76ers will attempt to re-sign Harris following their midseason acquisition, the Memphis Grizzlies, Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets are also expected to pursue Harris.

“It would be selfish of me to not come into this situation with an open mind to make this work for the long term,” Harris told The Athletic in March. “That’s where my mindset is at. I’m a loyal guy to where I am, and if I feel that loyalty back, that is how I operate. For me, it’s just making it work here and figuring out how it will go. So far, it’s been really good. Gotta show that loyalty.”

D'Angelo Russell On Upcoming Free Agency: 'I Definitely Want To Be Here'

Apr 25, 2019 1:33 AM

D'Angelo Russell said he wanted to return to the Brooklyn Nets next season, although he understands the business side of the game.

"I definitely want to be here. But I also know it's a business, too. So I'm not going to play that role like I don't know what could possibly happen. Say somebody comes here that I have to be a part of (a transaction to acquire them), I know that could be a possibility. So I just want to stay in this moment and not speak too soon about anything," said Russell.

Russell is a restricted free agent this summer, and the Nets have the right to match any offer for the point guard.

Russell added that the Nets have a hometown advantage in his upcoming free agency.

"Yeah, for sure, for sure. I don't know any other teams, I don't know any other GMs or coaches. I don't know any of those people. I know where I'm at. So it definitely gives you that advantage," said Russell.

Nets Minority Owner Fined $35K For Tweet Criticizing Refs

Apr 23, 2019 1:33 AM

Joseph Tsai was fined $35,000 by the NBA for sending a tweet criticizing the officials after the Brooklyn Nets' game 4 loss.

"My partners and I have spoken and the entire Nets ownership group support our GM Sean Marks for protesting the wrong calls and missed calls. NBA rules are rules and we respect that, but our players and fans expect things to be fair," Tsai tweeted.

Tsai's fine follows Sean Marks' fine and suspension for entering the referee's locker room after the game.

"It shows we're all one organization -- we're not separated in different parts. We're all together as one," said Jarrett Allen.

Kenny Atkinson: All Of The Different Team Building Strategies Is The Beauty Of The NBA

Apr 22, 2019 7:07 PM

The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers are first round opponents and are notable for taking vastly different approaches to their rebuilds.

The 76ers tanked for several seasons to accumulate assets and high first round picks, while the Nets built via trade, lower draft picks and free agent signings after not having their own first round pick for three seasons. Brooklyn sent the No. 3 pick in 2016, No. 1 in 2017 and No. 8 in 2018 to Boston.

“Isn’t that the greatest thing about the NBA?” Atkinson said of the two rebuilding strategies. “They did it one way, and we kind of did it the other. They’ve had great success and great players. We just did it a different way. That’s the beauty of the NBA. There’s a lot of different ways to skin a cat. We took our particular situation and took another approach, and here we are playing against each other. It’s great.”

Jarrett Allen Was Fouled In Final Seconds Of Nets' Game 4 Loss, According To NBA

Apr 21, 2019 8:19 PM

Jarrett Allen was fouled by Tobias Harris in the final seconds of the Brooklyn Nets' 112-108 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in game 4, according to the league's Last Two Minute Report.

Harris held Allen as Allen attempted to roll to the basket with the Nets down 2 points. The extra moment enabled 3 Sixers defenders to converge on Allen, resulting in a turnover.

"So the big point of emphasis this year was the wrapping, wrapping the player when he rolls to the rim. Judge for yourself if you watch the clip, but there was a clear wrap by Tobias Harris on the roll. I am just disappointed. That was a point of emphasis on day one at the coaches' meetings -- that they were going to emphasize that at the beginning of the game, the end of the game and all season. So how that all of a sudden doesn't become a foul on the wrap, I don't understand that," said Kenny Atkinson following the loss.

Sean Marks Suspended 1 Game For Entering Referee's Locker Room

Apr 21, 2019 4:17 PM

Sean Marks received a 1 game suspension and a $25,000 fine for entering the referee's locker room following the Brooklyn Nets' 112-108 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in game 4.

The game was marred by ejections to Jimmy Butler and Jared Dudley following a scuffle between Dudley and Joel Embiid. Marks believed that Embiid's flagrant 1 fouls should have been upgraded to flagrant 2's.

Marks intended to send a message to his team about how the franchise is supporting them as they compete in the playoffs, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 76ers are up 3-1 in the series.

Caris LeVert, Jared Dudley Call Out Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons For 'Disrespectful' Apology

Apr 18, 2019 12:39 AM

Caris LeVert and Jared Dudley called out Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons for laughing during Embiid's apology for throwing an elbow at Jarrett Allen in game 2.

"We didn't really like that. We thought that was kind of disrespectful, especially after the elbow he threw. It is what it is. There's no love lost. It's a playoff series. We expect that," said LeVert.

Embiid was called for a flagrant foul for his elbow. He and Ben Simmons laughed during his apology in the post-game press conference.

"I felt a certain type of way for it just because you're laughing and someone could have really gotten hurt. Now, luckily, Jay did pop up. That's been Embiid's personality, but just because it's your personality doesn't mean it's right. So, for us, you can either get even however you want to do it, but the biggest thing for us to get even is winning Game 3," added Dudley.

D'Angelo Russell On Nets' Playoff Push: 'We Can't Get Too Comfortable'

Apr 7, 2019 1:19 PM

D'Angelo Russell said that the Brooklyn Nets can't relax in their playoff push following their 133-128 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Nets are currently the 6th seed and hold the tiebreaker over the Magic.

"Now, it's one game at a time. I am going to say it after Indiana too, if you ask me the same-ass question: Every game is big. We have to treat it like it's the last one. We can't get comfortable. It's too late," said Russell.

While there are many scenarios in which the Nets could make the playoffs, they would guarantee themselves a spot with a win over the Heat at home in their final game.
