Julyan Stone Expected To Sign With Hornets

Aug 12, 2017 5:22 PM

The Charlotte Hornets are expected to sign Julyan Stone once he is released from his contract.

Stone signed a contract extension this summer with Umana Reyer Venezia in Italy but the deal didn't contain an out clause for the NBA.

Stone's father, however, is in a coronary care unit with severe lung, heart and kidney ailments.

Stone and his Los Angeles-based agent, Giovanni Funiciello, have asked the team to release him so he can be closer to his father in the United States for the upcoming season.

The Hornets have been looking for a third point guard at the veteran's minimum.

The Charlotte Hornets are signing Marcus Paige and Mangok Mathiang to two-way contracts.

Paige and Mathiang will play primarily for the G-League Greensboro Swarm next season.

Mathiang, a 6-10 center, did a pre-draft workout for the Hornets.
