Michael Jordan Explained Hornets' Position On Trade To Kemba Walker

Jan 23, 2018 10:13 AM

Michael Jordan reached out to Kemba Walker following a report that the Charlotte Hornets are listening to trade offers on him.

Jordan told Walker the Hornets are not predisposed to moving him.

“I’m not looking to trade Kemba, but I would listen to opportunities.”

The Hornets are unlikely to reach the playoffs this season.

“Obviously, the season has been a disappointment so far, and there have been teams asking about players. Also, we’ve been asking about players,” Jordan said, with the NBA’s trade deadline looming Feb. 8. “We ask teams who they like on our roster and they always say Kemba.

“It’s not like we are shopping him. We would not just give him up. I love Kemba Walker. I would not trade him for anything but an All-Star player.”

Hornets Have Tried To Trade Nicolas Batum, Dwight Howard, Marvin Williams, Kidd-Gilchrist

Jan 19, 2018 10:08 AM

While the Charlotte Hornets are prepared to trade franchise cornerstone Kemba Walker, they previously made a number of other players available in trade talks.

League sources say the Hornets have explored trades involving Nicolas Batum, Dwight Howard, Marvin Williams and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, but there was little interest from rival teams.

Batum is owed $100 million over four seasons while Howard has $47 million over two years, and Williams is owed $42 million over three years. Kidd-Gilchrist has $39 million over three years on his rookie scale extension.

Kemba Walker Made Available In Trade Talks By Hornets

Jan 19, 2018 10:02 AM

The Charlotte Hornets are open to trading Kemba Walker ahead of this year's trade deadline.

The Hornets are looking to attach some of their bad contracts along with Walker, who earns just $12 million per season through 18-19.

Charlotte views a trade of Walker as a reset of the franchise.

The Hornets are currently 11th in the Eastern Conference.
