Derrick Rose converted a pass from Nikola Mirotic in Friday's game that was initially ruled a dunk, which would have been his first of the season.
But the official play-by-play was later changed to a layup.
Rose described it as a "very high layup," adding: "But I'm getting close."
Rose would like to get back to playing above the rim after years of injuries.
"When I first came back from the (torn left) ACL, it was all about testing out everything," he said. "I wanted to see how it would feel if I did this certain move, that certain move. Then it was (a torn meniscus in) the right knee. I'm just happy I'm playing consistent games."
The Chicago Bulls are reportedly willing to trade Joakim Noah or Taj Gibson for a wing.
The Bulls have been without Mike Dunleavy Jr. all season, while Jimmy Butler has struggled somewhat under Fred Hoiberg.
"Executives around the league, and people have told me, that the Bulls are very determined to add a talented wing player," said Wojnarowski during his podcast. "And I’ve been told that the Bulls are open to…whether it’s Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson…maybe not both of them, but either of them if there’s a deal out there that they can bring in the best possible wing player available, they’re open to it… They need more shooting."
Joakim Noah will be out two to four weeks with a slight tear in his left shoulder.
Noah is averaging 4.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 blocks in 22.3 minutes per game this season.
Noah will be a free agent in the offseason.
Gar Forman disputes the notion the Chicago Bulls have been a disappointment so far.
The Bulls haven't performed as well on offense as expected after replacing Tom Thibodeau with Fred Hoiberg.
"Anytime there is a change, it takes time," Forman said. "We see the glass half-full. And changing coaches was not about boosting the offense."
Forman is likely alluding to the poor working relationship the Bulls' front office had with Thibodeau.
Hoiberg has been still trying to figure out his rotations and offensive sets.
Derrick Rose dunked in shootaround last Wednesday morning, which sources say was treated like an event for the team.
The dunk by Rose was perhaps the first time anyone could remember him dunking all season
The dunk was a signal that Rose was ready to play like his old self.
Before Rose's initial ACL injury, he would dunk all the time
Jimmy Butler believes Fred Hoiberg needs to coach the Chicago Bulls a lot harder to get the most out of the team.
The Bulls have struggled to adjust to Hoiberg's style so far this season after five years under Tom Thibodeau.
"I believe in the guys in this locker room, yeah," Butler said. "But I also believe that we probably have to be coached a lot harder at times. I'm sorry, I know Fred's a laid-back guy, and I really respect him for that, but when guys aren't doing what they're supposed to do, you got to get on guys, myself included. You got to do what you're supposed to do when you're out there playing basketball."
The Chicago Bulls remain optimistic Mike Dunleavy Jr. will play at some point this season.
Dunleavy is away from the team working with a specialist as he recovers from a back injury.
Hoiberg said Friday he is "optimistic" the veteran sharpshooter will suit up after being sidelined all season. He also understands the skepticism that Dunleavy will return, saying it's "fair to question that, talk about it."
Dunleavy expected to miss eight to 10 weeks following back surgery in late September but he experienced a setback.
The Chicago Bulls ended their three-game losing streak with an 83-80 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
“We were in a bad situation before tonight’s game,” said Pau Gasol. “We’ve got to start doing things differently, picking it up somehow. We have an opportunity here to do something special. I would hate if we would throw it away ourselves. It was a must win; otherwise we would be talking four in a row in the loss column and not a good place to be.”
“We got tired of losing the way we were losing and eventually you have to do what you have to do, especially at home,” said Jimmy Butler. “We finally picked it up a notch and knew what it took to win and did it.”
Derrick Rose played without his mask for the first time since his training camp injury.
Rose said he was cleared a few days ago to play without the mask but decided to keep wearing it.
Rose forgot it in the locker room at halftime of Thursday's game and decided to go without it the rest of the way. He said he "might" wear it the next game.
