Second All-Star Returns Released

Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers lead the Western Conference, while LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat lead the Eastern Conference in votes received after the second returns of 2007 NBA All-Star Balloting presented by T-Mobile.
       
Through the 2007 NBA All-Star Balloting program, NBA fans from around the globe are responsible for voting in the starters for the 56th NBA All-Star Game, which will be played in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 18. The game will air live on TNT, ESPN Radio and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.  
       
Yao leads all players with 1,411,923 votes. The Minnesota Timberwolves? Kevin Garnett leads all Western Conference forwards with 785,865 votes, followed by San Antonio?s Tim Duncan (715,916). Bryant (1,187,505) and the Houston Rockets? Tracy McGrady (1,057,057) lead all Western Conference guards. Moving into third place among Western Conference guards is Allen Iverson, who was acquired by the Denver Nuggets from the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 19. Since Iverson was traded to a Western Conference team after the All-Star ballot was unveiled, his Eastern Conference votes will be applied to the conference in which he now plays.

James leads all Eastern Conference players with 1,323,989 votes, followed by Wade (983,321). The Toronto Raptors? Chris Bosh (497,283) is second to James among Eastern Conference forwards. The New Jersey Nets? Vince Carter (726,040) is second to Wade among Eastern Conference guards. Miami?s Shaquille O?Neal leads all Eastern Conference centers with 855,544 votes, followed by the Orlando Magic?s Dwight Howard (665,434).

James leads all Eastern Conference players with 808,570 votes, followed by Iverson (595,200). The Toronto Raptors? Chris Bosh (304,624) is second to James among Eastern Conference forwards. Miami?s Shaquille O?Neal leads all Eastern Conference centers with 522,815 votes, followed by the Orlando Magic?s Dwight Howard (415,708).

Gooden Out Against Hornets

Drew Gooden will not play tonight against the Hornets, the Cavaliers have announced.  Gooden has a left strained groin.

Gooden Misses Game Against Pacers

Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden did not dress against Indiana on Saturday with a left strained groin.  The injury occurred during warm-ups.  He will travel with the team to Oklahoma City tomorrow and is listed as day-to-day.  His status will be updated after evaluation tomorrow.

Larry Hughes was back in the line-up for the Cavaliers on Saturday night in their contest versus the Pacers.

He scored two points in the first half in seven minutes of play.

Hughes May Return Saturday

Cavaliers guard Larry Hughes, out 10 games with a high ankle sprain, has been upgraded from questionable to probable for Saturday night's game against Indiana.

Hughes went through a full practice Friday for the second straight day and will be evaluated after the team's shoot-around Saturday.

Cavs: No Trade Talks With Knicks On Frye

On Sunday, the New York Post reported that the Cavs have shown some interest in Channing Frye. The paper went on to report Drew Gooden was a potential Knicks target.

According to Cavs sources, there are no trade talks with the Knicks.

Two years ago, Isiah Thomas tried to acquire Gooden and Ira Newble from the Cavs at the trade deadline for Kurt Thomas.

Cleveland Has Kept Close Eye On Frye

The Cavaliers have been closely watching Channing Frye this season, according to a source.  Isiah Thomas, meanwhile, has always had interest in Drew Gooden of the Cavaliers.

When Frye returns from his ankle injury in a few weeks, his role could be greatly reduced.  David Lee continues to perform well, the Knicks are Eddy Curry's team in Thomas' eyes and Jared Jeffries may be ready to return as well.

Varejao Leaves With Chin Laceration

Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao left tonight's game at Atlanta with 7:04 remaining in the 4th quarter with a chin laceration.  He received six stitches and is listed as PROBABLE for tomorrow night's game at Houston.
