Marreese Speights has declined his player option for the 13-14 NBA season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Speights will become an unrestricted free agent.

Speights was due $4.515 million with the Cavaliers.

Anthony Bennett views himself as a stretch-four power forward in the NBA.

“Right now I’m thinking [I’ll be] stretch four but later on in my career maybe I will play the three,” Bennett said. “I feel that playing the stretch four is an advantage for me because I’m quicker than most power forwards. I can shoot the ball well. I’m efficient so I can use that to my advantage.”

Bennett is anxious to erase doubts about his talents and position.

“I’m 6-7. Everybody said I’m a tweener, but I don’t really look into that. I dominated college my only year. I scored inside out, rebounded well, and helped my teammates,” Bennett said. “Throughout high school and even my only season in college a lot of people have been doubting me, saying I can’t do this, do that and I’m too small, but at the same time I just focus on me and the team. I work hard every day and this is what has gotten me here.”

Jim Boylan has agreed to become an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Boylan finished the 12-13 season as interim head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, replacing Scott Skiles.

The Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a trade of C.J. Miles for the No. 22 overall pick.

Miles is close with Deron Williams and would give the Nets depth on the wing.

Miles signed with the Cavaliers from the Utah Jazz last offseason.

The Houston Rockets reportedly have deals on the table to send Thomas Robinson to the Chicago Bulls or Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers would send the No. 19 pick to the Rockets for Robinson, or the Bulls would trade No. 20.

The Rockets are trying to move Robinson in order to clear additional cap room to pursue Dwight Howard.
