Cavaliers Unlikely To Generate Big Trade Offer For Kevin Love

Dec 15, 2019 9:35 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers are unlikely to generate a robust market for Kevin Love as they look to trade him.

"I think you're looking at a marketplace where they'll probably get a protected first round pick and maybe an expiring contract and then maybe a throw-in player," said Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski also opined that Love is at the stage of his career where he's likely the third or fourth best player on a contending team.

"I think Kevin Love is ready to go," said Wojnarowski of leaving the Cavaliers.

Kevin Love 'Clearly Unhappy' With Cavaliers' Situation

Dec 9, 2019 11:28 AM

A report surfaced over the weekend that the Cleveland Cavaliers are prepared to listen to trade offers for Kevin Love.

"Let me just say that I think the Cavs' phone lines were always open on Kevin Love," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast.

Windhorst suggests Love's relationship with John Beilein has expedited Cleveland's timeline on a trade.

"Love showed up for training camp two days before. Kevin was living his best life out in the world. I think that was a message right there," said Windhorst. "He's clearly unhappy."

Love has three seasons and $90 million remaining on his contract with the Cavaliers.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Love prefers a trade to a contending team.

Tristan Thompson, Larry Nance Jr. Publicly Support John Beilein

Dec 7, 2019 1:30 PM

Tristan Thompson and Larry Nance Jr. refuted a story from The Athletic centered around the frustrations of Cleveland Cavaliers players with first-year coach John Beilein's tactics.

Thompson, who added that Beilein was "great for development," said that the team couldn't have a culture of players going behind the coach's back.

"If you're going to build a culture and a family, you can't have that chatty Patty [stuff] going on. That is whack to me. Everyone has got to look in the mirror. There's only so much coach can do, and there's only so much we can do," said Thompson.

Nance echoed Thompson's statement about keeping certain comments in-house.

"Ideally you want to keep that in-house if there was those issues. I guess that's today's NBA. ... I've never had an issue with a coach in my career, him being no different," said Nance.

Beilein added that he's only received support from his players.

"We've met ... and it's like, 'Coach, keep doing what you're doing because we really need this. We need accountability. We need to play harder, stronger, tougher. Don't stop what you're doing.'"

Multiple Cavaliers Frustrated By John Beilein's College Environment

Dec 6, 2019 3:03 PM

Several players on the Cleveland Cavaliers are bristling at the tactics of John Beilein, numbers sources tell Joe Vardon and Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Beilein is treating this season like he and his players are in college.

Several players are beginning to look past Beilein and towards J.B. Bickerstaff for guidance.

“Guys drowned out his voice, and when guys start searching for the next in line for help, I believe you’ve lost them,” one Cavs player said.

“The little things become big things, and sometimes very big things,” another player said.

“Our assistants are definitely more prepared for the NBA,” a third said.

Beilein is in his first season working in the NBA in any capacity at the age of 66. Both veterans and young players are frustrated by Beilein's college environment.
