Kevin Love Takes Part In 5-On-5 Scrimmage, Close To Return

Jan 31, 2019 6:49 PM

Kevin Love is close to making his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers lineup after participating in a 5-on-5, full contact scrimmage.

"He actually did pretty well. Moved around really well. Got a little winded, which is expected. It's the first time he's really been in a contact situation where we actually went up and down and there was actual contact. I thought he moved really well, shot the basketball well," said Larry Drew.

Love has been out since undergoing foot surgery in late October.

Tristan Thompson Out 2 More Weeks, Kevin Love Impresses In Shoot-Around

Jan 26, 2019 2:32 PM

Tristan Thompson, who missed the last 4 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers, will be out for two more weeks with a strained left foot.

The Cavs have also been encouraged by the progress of Kevin Love, with Larry Drew saying he was in "awe" by what he saw during a recent shoot-around.

“What I saw of Kevin this morning, I was almost in awe — how well he moved, how well he passed. I’ve been watching in workouts and he’s been shooting the ball extremely well,” said Drew.

Drew was quick to point out that he did not want to rush Love back to the lineup, and there is still no timetable to his return.

Cavaliers Have No Interest In Trading Kevin Love

Jan 24, 2019 1:01 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers have struggled this season but they still want to keep Kevin Love.

Love can now be traded by the Cavaliers six months after signing a four-year, $120 million contract extension.

Love also wants to remain with the Cavaliers.

"I don't know what's going to happen. I've said all along I've wanted to be here. I've said this too, it's a business," Love said recently. "We saw that last year at the deadline. Think every trade deadline, draft, free agency, always brings something new. It's always different. I would love to be here. Would just love to get through a whole season healthy just because I've had nagging things that have taken time and been a little bit unlucky, but I would like to play ball here."

Love hasn't played since Oct. 24.

LeBron James Appreciative Of Kyrie Irving's Apology Call

Jan 17, 2019 9:11 AM

LeBron James was coincidentally having dinner with Kevin Love in Los Angeles when Kyrie Irving called him to apologize for being "a young player."

James returned Irving's call later in private.

A source close to James said he was very appreciative that Irving called him. There relationship has believed to have frays, but some repairs are underway.

Irving requested a trade from the Cavaliers in 2017 because he no longer wanted to play with James.

“Kyrie knows he left a year early,” said another key player from those Cavs teams, who asked not to be named. “We were supposed to take another run at it (last season) and then take a look at everything.”

“I think Kyrie can be a great leader,” Channing Frye said. “I think this shows some real growth on his part. I’m excited for him and for what he’ll be able to do in that role.”

McCaw later signed with the Toronto Raptors.

The NBA said it found "no violation of the league's collective bargaining agreement, including the anti-circumvention rules."

Kevin Love 'Would Love' To Remain With Cavaliers

Jan 7, 2019 11:14 PM

Kevin Love signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 24th.

Love will become eligible for a trade on January 24th ahead of the Feb. 7th trade deadline.

Love was asked about the prospect of a trade as the Cavaliers have since gone into more of a full rebuild during his absence.

“We’ll see,” Love said. “If not, we will wait until summer. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’ve said all along I’ve wanted to be here. I’ve said this too, it’s a business. We saw that last year at the deadline. I had never seen so many guys traded from a team really ever.”

Love would likely receive more trade interest in the offseason if he can comeback healthy.

“I would love to be here,” Love said. “Would just love to get through a whole season healthy just because I’ve had nagging things that have taken time and been a little bit unlucky, but I would like to play ball here.”
