Rockets, Cavaliers, Thunder Considered NBA's Only True Sellers Entering Deadline Period

Feb 25, 2021 10:55 PM

With the NBA expanding its playoff format and a crowd of teams right around .500, there are only a limited number of teams that will look to sell pieces ahead of the trade deadline.

"They're selling," said Tim MacMahon regarding the Houston Rockets. "They're definitely selling."

"The only teams that are truly selling are Houston, Cleveland and Oklahoma City," interjected Tim MacMahon. "Everybody else is ether not going either way, like probably a team like Detroit, or trying to make the playoffs."

The Cavaliers are aggressively shopping Andre Drummond, while the Rockets could make Victor Oladipo available. The Thunder, meanwhile, have traded away a number of their veterans over the past few months as they begin a full rebuild.

Knicks Considering Trade For Andre Drummond

Feb 24, 2021 10:18 PM

The New York Knicks are "analyzing" whether to make a trade for Andre Drummond, a source told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The Cavaliers benched Drummond two weeks ago as they attempt to trade him.

The Knicks are the most flexible team to slip Drummond’s expiring $28 million contract onto their roster as they still have $15 million of cap space.

The Toronto Raptors were previously working on a deal for Drummond, but couldn't find sensical matching salaries.

The Cavaliers could agree to a buyout with Drummond if he's not traded by the deadline.

Kevin Love Close To Return From Calf Injury

Feb 17, 2021 5:45 PM

Kevin Love participated in most of practice with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday as he nears his return from a calf injury.

Love has been out since Dec. 27, when he aggravated a calf strain he initially sustained in the team's exhibition opener.

"Hopefully that's a good sign," J.B. Bickerstaff said of the latest step in Love's slow improvement. "Obviously you wait and see how he responds tomorrow, but he's making progress and he was with us for most of the day.''

The Cavaliers have lost 10 out of 11 games and are no longer playing Andre Drummond as they attempt to trade him.

J.B. Bickerstaff Praises Andre Drummond's Professionalism 'In Difficult Circumstances'

Feb 17, 2021 5:41 PM

J.B. Bickerstaff responded to criticism the Cleveland Cavaliers have received for not playing Andre Drummond as the team looks to trade him. Draymond Green spoke out most forcefully on the issue.

Bickerstaff was aware of Green's comments but avoided saying he disagreed with them.

"Nobody's opinion should be muted,'' Bickerstaff said Wednesday. "Obviously there's conversations that we've had with our guys as far as this process goes that everybody's not privy to. But again, guys have a right to speak their voice and organizations have to do what's best for the organization. I think that's kind of how it works and it shouldn't be a two-way street, so to speak.''

Bickerstaff again praised Drummond's professionalism "in difficult circumstances.''

"He's been great,'' Bickerstaff said. "He was in the locker room at halftime having conversations with the guys about what he saw on the floor. He was there after the game. He's been tremendous through this whole thing and it's not easy.''
