Henderson Set To Return To Dallas On Tuesday

Feb 28, 2005 6:26 PM

Alan Henderson and the Mavericks have an agreement in principle for the 6-10 forward to return to the team, possibly as early as Tuesday.

Henderson was traded with Calvin Booth to Milwaukee last Thursday. The Bucks waived Henderson the following day and he will clear waivers on Tuesday.

"We have an agreement," coach and general manager Don Nelson said. "Nothing is official until it is signed. But we feel very good about getting him back."

Nelson said he hopes to have Henderson on the upcoming road trip that starts Wednesday in Los Angeles vs. the Clippers.

In 52 games this season for Dallas, he averaged 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, primarily off the bench.

Stackhouse Back In Practice; Nowitzki Questionable For Tonight

Feb 28, 2005 12:52 PM

The Mavericks may have suffered there fair share of injuries, however the good news is that there seems to be plenty of young guys willing to step up.

Now Mav?s sixth-man Jerry Stackhouse is gearing himself to get back into the lineup.  Stackhouse has been out the past six games after aggravating a strained groin at Sacramento on Feb. 11 and is doubtful tonight against New Orleans at American Airlines Center.

"Looks pretty good, but we didn't do that much," Nelson said of Stackhouse's first practice. "I think we'll have him on the West Coast."

Mavericks all-star Dirk Nowitzki injured his right hamstring in Saturday?s melee versus Phoenix and as a result, sat out Sunday?s practice.

"I'm hoping to give it a go," Nowitzki said of tonight's game.

Nash May Sit Tonight?s Game Versus Dallas

Feb 26, 2005 2:39 PM

Steve Nash, the cog that keeps the Suns machine rolling, will make a game-time decision as to whether he will play in tonight?s game versus the surging Dallas Mavericks.

Nash is at the mercy of his ailing left hamstring which kept him out of practice yesterday.

"Hamstrings are a little tricky," Nash said Friday before the Suns departed to Dallas for tonight's game against the Mavericks. "Every day you can work as hard as you can to get it better, but it's going to be ready when it's ready."

"I know he (Nash) wants to play, but he'll be smart enough to make a good decision," coach Mike D'Antoni said.

Feb 25, 2005 3:59 AM

In their first game without forward Chris Webber, the Sacramento Kings travelled to Dallas and blew a 4th quarter lead, losing 122-113.

Don Nelson was ejected and Avery Johnson took over as general.

"I'm really proud of us gutting this win out," said assistant coach Avery Johnson, who took over for Nelson. "They handled a lot of adversity during the course of the game. ... Everybody that touched the court tonight contributed in some way."

Bucks Trade Van Horn To Dallas

Feb 24, 2005 2:59 PM

In a move to improve their odds of signing Michael Redd, the Milwaukee Bucks have traded Keith Van Horn.

League sources tell ESPN.com that the Bucks beat the 3 p.m. ET Thursday trading deadline by agreeing to send Van Horn to Dallas for Calvin Booth, the expiring contract of Alan Henderson and minimal cash considerations.

Moving Van Horn, in addition to the trade of Mike James to Houston earlier Thursday, removes nearly $13 million in salary-cap obligations from the Bucks' payroll next season.

Feb 23, 2005 12:56 PM

The Dallas Mavericks currently sit in the middle of the Western Conference pack; however, that's not letting players and coaches think that the a chance to catch the league leading Spurs isn't out of the question.

"I think we're right there where we want to be," Dirk Nowitzki said. "Obviously, our goal for the season is to catch San Antonio. It's going to be hard, but we have to go for it. To me, they look really tough."

Dampier Has MRI Performed On Right Ankle

Feb 22, 2005 2:07 AM

Erick Dampier had an MRI performed on his right ankle on Monday, as the Mavericks are being extremely cautious with their center.

Dampier is unable to recall how he hurt the ankle, but he came up limping last Tuesday at Golden State. He sat out the Phoenix game and canceled any All-Star plans to have the ankle worked on by the training staff.

"It would be nice to have a healthy team," coach Don Nelson said. "It seems like every time we think everybody's OK, something else happens. We've done well patching things up."
