Nets Considered Favorites To Sign Bryn Forbes; Bulls, Cavs, Mavs, Pelicans Also Interested

Jul 31, 2021 4:05 PM

Bryn Forbes is a free agent after a successful season with the Milwaukee Bucks. Forbes is one of the better three-point shooters in the NBA though he has defensive limitations on the other end of the floor.

The Brooklyn Nets are believed to be the leading candidate to sign Forbes, according to sources that spoke with Bleacher Report.

The Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans will also pursue Forbes.

Forbes didn't play in the final three games of The Finals as Mike Budenholzer went with Jeff Teague instead.

Kings To Receive Competition On Richaun Holmes From Mavs, Knicks, Raptors

Jul 31, 2021 3:43 PM

While Richaun Holmes is ultimately expected to re-sign with the Sacramento Kings in free agency, he is expected to receive interest from a number of other teams.

The Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors have interest in Holmes.

Holmes was also expected to receive interest from the Charlotte Hornets, but their trade for Mason Plumlee and selection of Kai Jones in the draft has seemingly taken them off the board for a center.

Holmes averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 29.2 minutes this past season with the Kings.

Celtics Acquire Josh Richardson From Mavericks Using TPE

Jul 30, 2021 9:05 PM

The Boston Celtics have agreed to acquire Josh Richardson from the Dallas Mavericks using their $11 million trade exception.

Richardson is exercising his $11.6 million player option for the 21-22 season for the deal.

The trade will be finalized on Saturday as Richardson's salary jumps when the league season rolls over and the TPE would no longer be sufficient to accommodate his contract.

Dallas acquired Richardson from the Philadelphia 76ers last offseason for Seth Curry. The Mavericks could have up to $33 million in cap space following the move.

Kyle Lowry Seeking Three-Year, $90M Deal

Jul 27, 2021 1:52 PM

Kyle Lowry is seeking a three-year, $90 million contract in free agency, sources tell Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia inquirer.

The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat are expected to pursue Lowry in free agency. The 76ers, Heat and Lakers sought a trade for Lowry at last season's deadline and he then sought a two-year extension worth at least $25 million per year.

The 76ers and Lakers would need to acquire Lowry via a sign-and-trade deal. Ben Simmons makes $33 million next season, which would help the 76ers and Toronto Raptors facilitate a deal.

“If there’s a sign-and-trade [with the Sixers] that can be done that can get him there, and he gets $25 to $30 million, he will consider it,” a source said.

The Knicks are believed to be preparing a two-year deal between $20 million and $30 million per season.

Mavericks Abandon Kawhi Leonard Plans, Will Focus On Kyle Lowry, Tim Hardaway Jr.

Jul 27, 2021 1:41 PM

The Dallas Mavericks were expected to wait to see if Kawhi Leonard might give any indication he would be willing to leave the Los Angeles Clippers before using their cap space elsewhere, but they have moved off those plans.

The focus of the Mavericks will be to sign Kyle Lowry in free agency and then re-sign Tim Hardaway Jr.

Hardaway was included in the Kristaps Porzingis trade in 2019 and had an outstanding 20-21 season with the Mavericks.

Dallas will face completion for Lowry from the Miami Heat Heat, New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers.

Mavericks Explore Josh Richardson's Trade Market

Jul 27, 2021 11:21 AM

The Dallas Mavericks have held trade conversations involving Josh Richardson in case he decides to exercise his $11.6 million player option for the 21-22 season, sources tell Bleacher Report.

The Mavericks traded Seth Curry for Richardson last offseason in hopes he would improve their point of attack defense. Richardson struggled with his perimeter shot and generally didn't fit as the Mavericks had hoped.

The Mavericks would like to clear cap space for free agency while also prioritizing re-signing Tim Hardaway Jr.

Mavericks To Pursue Kyle Lowry, Mike Conley Jr.

Jul 27, 2021 10:53 AM

The Dallas Mavericks have shown interest in both Kyle Lowry and Mike Conley Jr., sources tell Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Mavericks would like to ease the ball handling and playmaking burden on Luka Doncic.

Lowry is expected to be one of the most coveted free agents on the market who will be able to pick of money, title contention and situation.

Conley will be a free agent after two seasons with the Utah Jazz. The Jazz would like to re-sign Conley but they have luxury tax concerns. League executives, however, tell ESPN that Conley is most likely to stay with the Jazz.
