Luka Doncic First Player Since Michael Jordan In 1986 To Open With Six Games Of 30 Or More Points

Oct 31, 2022 6:24 AM

Luka Doncic's 2022-23 season is off to quite the start. Six games into the season, Doncic is leading the NBA in scoring at 36.7 points per game.

Doncic has scored between 32 and 44 points in each of the Dallas Mavericks first six games. That made Doncic the first player since Michael Jordan in 1986 to open a season with 30 or more points in his first six games of a season. Against the Orlando Magic on Sunday, Doncic hit the 30-point marker before halftime.

For his part, Doncic says he can play even better than he has. That's backed by the fact that the Mavs star is hitting only 22.6% of his three-pointers on the young season. Doncic is also averaging 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists, to go along with his gaudy scoring numbers.

Christian Wood 'Focused On Trying To Win', Not Contract

Oct 28, 2022 10:43 AM

Christian Wood is thriving in his first season with the Dallas Mavericks

"Individually, of course, I want to be an All-Star in this league," said Wood. "I think I have a good chance if I get the time and the minutes to show what I can really do. I think I can definitely make a case for that. I want to try to win as many games as I can. I want to get to the playoffs. I haven’t been to the playoffs one time in my career. I want to try to make a run in the playoffs."

Wood will be a free agent this offseason. Wood was asked about his thoughts on the future.

"I guess we’ll see," said Wood. "I haven’t really thought too much about it. I want to win. I’m not worried about a contract or an extension. I’m just focused on trying to win."

Facundo Campazzo's Mavericks Debut Delayed By Visa Issue

Oct 23, 2022 8:34 AM

The Dallas Mavericks added point guard Facundo Campazzo to their roster right at the end of the preseason. Campazzo hasn't played in either of the Mavs' first two games because of a visa issue.

Dallas coach Jason Kidd said they hope to have Campazzo active and available by the team's next game on Tuesday. The Argentina native is having his visa recalibrated to allow him to continue to work in the United States.

Campazzo joined the Mavericks after two seasons with the Denver Nuggets. The 5-foot-11 guard is expected to help Dallas replace some of the depth they lost at point guard over the summer.
