Nuggets Wanted To Trade For Chandler In 2006

Jan 29, 2008 6:08 AM

According to the Denver Post, George Karl called the Hornets' Tyson Chandler "a young Marcus", in reference to defensive stud Marcus Camby, and said that the Nuggets were "very interested" in trading for Tyson Chandler, then with Chicago, in the summer of 2006.

"This is a young Marcus (Camby) who can get 20 rebounds," Karl said of the Hornets center. "There's about 90 percent of big guys in the NBA who you could lock in a gym all night long and they couldn't get 20 rebounds."

Chicago traded Chandler to New Orleans instead, receiving P.J. Brown ? as well as J.R. Smith, who the Bulls shipped to Denver for Howard Eisley and two second-round picks.

J.R. Smith Booed In New Orleans

Jan 29, 2008 6:06 AM

Having the hottest team in the NBA today is not enough for the Hornets fans.

During the first half of Monday night's game between New Orleans and Denver, the crowd booed ex-Hornet J.R. Smith every time he touched the ball.

Smith, while talented, acted immature and seldom spoke with Coach Byron Scott in his two seasons with the Hornets.

"I always stood by that ? talent was never the question," Scott said. "He has tremendous athleticism and tremendous shooting range. That was never a question."

Calm Kidd Says It's Time To 'Move On' From N.J.

Jan 29, 2008 5:55 AM

Jason Kidd has confirmed that his agent Jeff Schwartz has talked to Nets' management about moving him by the Feb. 21 trade deadline, ESPN's Ric Bucher is reporting.

"Sometimes, when you ride a wave, you get to the end and that's all there is," Kidd said Monday. "That's where we are."

"It used to be if I got a triple-double, that was an automatic win," he added. "That's just not the case now. We tried to make this work. We've found out it doesn't. It's time for us all to move on."

While Kidd wants to move to a contender, he also knows that there are no guarantees. Bucher writes that Dallas and Denver have already reached out to the next in the past week about Kidd.

Stoudamire Interested In Joining Five Teams

Jan 28, 2008 12:35 PM

According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, Damon Stoudamire's agent says his client is interested in joining the Celtics, Suns, Spurs, Raptors, or Nuggets now that he has been bought out by the Grizzlies.

?We want to have him to be able to join his new team and be ready to go the following day,? Goodwin told the paper. ?This isn?t about money or anything. Damon knows he?s going to be getting the veteran minimum. He just wants a chance to play and an opportunity to go for a championship. That?s all that?s important to him at this point. The clubs we?re talking about all afford him that opportunity so we?re confident he?ll be in a good situation by Thursday.?

Stoudamire has a per 40 FIC of 10.9 in 29 this season.
