Wilson Chandler Has Until Thursday To Sign Offer Sheet With Rival Team

Feb 28, 2012 9:55 AM

Wilson Chandler has until Thursday to receive an offer sheet from another team as he could only play for the Nuggets thereafter.

Chandler met with the Raptors last week, but no offer has been made.

Agent Chris Luchey confirmed that a one-year deal is out.

If Chandler doesn't sign a long-term deal with Denver, he won't play until the 12-13 season.

Luchey said "we're considering all options" and that it's realistic that Chandler could sign with a professional team in Italy this spring.

Wilson Chandler Interested In Joining Raptors

Feb 23, 2012 10:38 AM

Wilson Chandler might be signing with the Raptors, according to his agent, Chris Luchey.

"We are exploring all avenues," Luchey said. "Our talks [with Denver] thus far have been OK. It's just the nature [of free agency]. They have options and Will has options."

Chandler visited Toronto on Tuesday and is talking to six other teams.

The Raptors have the salary cap room to add Chandler without the use of an exception.

Karl: Nene Might Not Be 100 Percent Until Next Season

Feb 22, 2012 10:17 AM

Nene missed most of training camp because of contract negotiations and has battled injuries this winter, appearing in only 23 of the Nuggets’ 33 games

George Karl said getting Nene back to speed "might not even happen this year."

Nene is averaging 30.6 minutes, 13.4 points and 7.8 rebounds.

"His conditioning, being out this long, how we keep him in shape and how we get him to be a 35-minute player might not happen," Karl said. "We might just have to rotate and play the big guys. It's actually been pretty fluid the past few games."

Martin Defends Carmelo, Blasts Karl

Feb 19, 2012 1:35 PM

Kenyon Martin came to Carmelo Anthony’s defense when asked to comment on criticism levied against Anthony by current Nuggets coach George Karl.

"Man, listen, George needs to keep his mouth shut, first and foremost," Martin said. "Melo don't play there no more. So Karl shouldn't be commenting on Melo. If George was such a great coach, then Melo would want to stay. He wouldn't want to leave.”

Karl has often praised his team's new style and how the absence of Anthony has made his job easier.

"If the organization was ran right, he wouldn't want to leave, so it ain't Melo,” Martin said. “With Melo, not one time when he was there [in the Nuggets' locker room] did he bring that in the locker room when all that stuff was going on. Not one day. Everybody made it a bigger deal than it had to be. That's a good kid.

"They act like this kid was a cancer, like he came in there and destroyed the locker room and made everybody hate him. No, it wasn't nothing like that man. And it bothers me for people to be talking about how he's a selfish player and he has to defend himself."

Wilson Chandler To Return From China Next Week

Feb 17, 2012 10:30 AM

Wilson Chandler is set to return from the United State from China next week.

Chandler, a restricted free agent, intends to re-sign with the Nuggets upon his return after averaging 12.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in 21 games with Denver last season.

He is reportedly weighing whether to sign a one-year deal  that would make him an unrestricted free agent in July or sign a long-term deal with Denver immediately.

Karl Believes Nuggets Playing Too Nice

Feb 14, 2012 10:28 AM

George Karl wants the Nuggets to play with more of an edge.

"One of my angry points right now is I think we're playing too much of a finesse game and not an aggressive game and not an angry game," Karl said.

The Nuggets are 3-7 over their last ten games and are looking for a leader to guide them through a rough patch of the season.

"You know how in China, it's the year of the tiger? It's the year of the excuse in the NBA," said Karl, his raspy voice rising with passion to shout his displeasure about a team that headed into the season's toughest stretch on cruise control.

"I hear guys say they're tired. You're playing basketball! It's two hours! You get 97 timeouts! How in the heck can you be tired?

"I think there was a period of cruise control a little bit in our approach. And that's where leadership comes in. I think leadership is not in words, it's in approach and attitude and action."

Wilson Chandler Plans To Re-Sign With Nuggets

Feb 9, 2012 2:42 AM

Wilson Chandler intends to re-sign with the Nuggets once he is done playing in China, his agent confirmed.

Zhejiang Guangsha of the Chinese Basketball Association signed Chandler during the NBA lockout and he is committed to stay with the team until China’s season is over.

“Wilson likes their direction and the stabilization of their roster in Denver with the young talent,” Chandler's agent Chris Luchey said in a phone interview from China. “He wants to see how they develop as a team. It’s a unique situation. The ball is in their court. If Wilson is comfortable, he will be a part of their core group.”
