Alonzo Gee Reaches Deal With Nuggets

Sep 30, 2014 8:24 AM

Free agent forward Alonzo Gee has reached agreement on a deal with the Denver Nuggets, a source with knowledge told RealGM.

After deciding on Monday to join the Nuggets, Gee will report to Denver training camp Tuesday.

As one of the best players on the available market, the 6-foot-6 forward brings active defense and athleticism on the wing for the Nuggets.

Gee, 27, has trained vigorously on his overall game and basketball shape in the offseason, when he was traded three separate times and ultimately released by the Sacramento Kings to open a roster spot.

Over five NBA seasons playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards, Gee established himself as a contributing role player, averaging 7.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in his career.

Nuggets Pursuing Alonzo Gee

Sep 27, 2014 11:28 PM

The Denver Nuggets are actively pursuing free agent forward Alonzo Gee, sources with knowledge told RealGM.

Despite dealing with the adversity of three offseason trades and his release from the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, Gee has worked out diligently on his overall game, including improving his jump shot, daily training sessions and getting into the best basketball shape of his career.

Denver has expressed interest in Gee with a belief that his abilities fit their system, a five-year NBA veteran who would benefit the Nuggets with athleticism and defense in camp. Gee cleared NBA free agency waivers on Saturday.

In almost four seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Gee, 27, averaged eight points and four rebounds -- with consecutive years of scoring over 10 points per game.

As an undrafted player in 2009, Gee signed contracts with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Washington Wizards before securing a roster spot with Washington.

Kenneth Faried Noticing Increased Respect From Team USA Play

Sep 12, 2014 2:44 PM

Kenneth Faried has noticed the increased respect he is receiving due to his play for Team USA in the World Cup.

"I'm starting to gain respect," Faried said. "People are starting to respect me more. And I'm excited about that. But I'm more focused right now on just trying to get the gold. I want to win that gold medal so I can hang it with the rest of the accolades I've gotten that people thought I couldn't get. My mom will be ecstatic about that and my dad will be, too."

Faried said he is not concerned about his contractual status but will focus on it once he is finished with Team USA. Faried can negotiate a contract extension with the Denver Nuggets until Oct. 31.

"I'm not worried about [the Oct. 31 deadline for a contract extension] right now," Faried said. "After this is over with, then I'll focus on what's going on outside of just stepping on the court and moneywise and things like that. [But] I do feel as though I've opened eyes, and people are starting to show respect now. So that's a great honor to have and recognize who you are."

Chauncey Billups Retires After 17 NBA Seasons

Sep 9, 2014 9:46 PM

Chauncey Billups has decided to retire after 17 seasons in the NBA.

Billups became an unrestricted free agent when the Pistons declined the second and final year of a contract option that would have paid him $2.5 million next season.

Billups had interest in playing with the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in the offseason.

Billups missed 185 games over the past three seasons.

"It's just time. I'm happy, excited. The game was very, very good to me. I felt like I was equally as good to the game the way I played it and the way I respected it and the way I carried myself through the process."
