Facundo Campazzo: I Want To Stay In The NBA

Aug 20, 2022 6:52 PM

Facundo Campazzo remains unsigned, but the veteran point guard hasn't given up hopes of landing an NBA deal. Campazzo's deal with the Denver Nuggets expired at the end of last season. Denver elected to non-tender Campazzo, which made him an unrestricted free agent.

Real Madrid has made it known that they would welcome Campazzo back to the club. For now, Campazzo remains focused on landing an NBA deal.

"I want to stay, I think I showed that I can compete when I’m at my best, when they give me confidence and I feel part of the rotation. In fact, I was the starter during my first Playoffs in every game except the last one, and in I played a lot in regular season," Campazzo said. "I’m not saying no to Real Madrid. What I am saying is that my attention and my energy is focused on the NBA. It’s my first option."

In the immediate, Campazzo is focused on playing with the Argentinian National Team this summer. Campazzo plans to play with Argentina in FIBA World Cup qualifiers against Canada and the Bahamas. The 31-year-old point guard will then compete in the Americup in Brazil. After that, Campazzo hopes to return for another run at the NBA.

Jamal Murray: It Was Smart Of Me To Miss Playoffs, Get My Knee Right

Aug 19, 2022 2:56 PM

Jamal Murray tore his ACL during the 20-21 season and missed the entire 21-22 season rehabbing. There was a possibility at one point that Murray could return in time for the playoffs for the Denver Nuggets.

"It was tough, but I just wanted to wait until I was healthy, until I could play the game without thinking about it. I didn't want to be doing both out there, especially in the biggest time of the year for basketball," Murray told ESPN during a trip to Australia.

"It was smart of me to miss the playoffs and get my knee right, now I can go into the next season with a lot more confidence."

Murray essentially added six months to his comeback.

"It was challenging, but it got easier. I felt every month I could do something new, strength wise, agility wise, I just saw constant improvement every month. Even now, I'm healthy but I can still see improvement in my game, what I'm comfortable to do and what and how I want to move on the court, it's much more fluid than before."

"Early on, I wasn't able to move at all. I had to figure out what I was going to do in a pick-and-roll, if I have to see the pass earlier, hit a guy a step earlier, not getting to the paint as deep to hit a floater, just little details you study. That's what I've been doing, studying how to land, all of that stuff goes through your mind. It's been interesting, you get to learn more about yourself and more about your game as time goes on."

Will Barton Has Embraced Trade To Wizards

Aug 13, 2022 8:02 PM

Will Barton wasn't expecting to be traded by the Denver Nuggets. But Barton also wasn't surprised when he was traded to the Washington Wizards this summer.

“It was just like a shock, but not too much of a shock,” the veteran wing said. “It was a shock in that, obviously, I had been there eight years, did so much there together, so it’s always shocking when you’ve been somewhere for so long and you’re moving on. But, at the same time, I embraced it, I’m welcoming a new chapter.”

Barton will have some familiar faces with him in Washington. Wizards head coach Wes Unseld Jr. was formerly a Nuggets assistant. And Denver teammate Monte Morris went to Washington with Barton, as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith headed to the Nuggets.

Now, Barton says he's focused on helping the Wizards get back to the playoffs.

“My head is to go in there and help do the same thing I helped do in Denver,” Barton said.
