Bojan Bogdanovic has been seeking a contract extension, sources tell Marc Stein, which is believed to have cooled his trade market when the Utah Jazz looked to move him. Some teams were dissuaded from more strongly pursuing Bogdanovic.

The Detroit Pistons acquired Bogdanovic with what was a less than expected offer.

Bogdanovic is on a $19.3 million expiring contract.

The Pistons could flip Bogdanovic before the trade deadline, but they want to evaluate what they first in case they remain in play-in contention.

When Jerami Grant was available in potential trades this offseason, he was most strongly linked with the Portland Trail Blazers and was eventually traded there. But the Milwaukee Bucks were another team that expressed interest in trading for Grant when he was made available by the Detroit Pistons.

A similar, albeit lesser player in Jae Crowder is now available on the trade market by the Phoenix Suns and could fit the profile of what the Bucks are looking for. Milwaukee previously had P.J. Tucker play that role for them when they won their championship, but they elected not to re-sign him during the 2021 offseason.

"The Bucks will look though I bet," said Zach Lowe on his podcast about Milwaukee potentially having interest in Crowder. "The Bucks were sneakily kind of sniffing around Jerami Grant in Detroit before Portland swooped in. I think they like the idea of the switchable, switchable, switchable guys."

The Blazers acquired Grant from the Pistons in a package built around a 2025 first round pick via the Bucks and No. 36 in 2022. 

The Detroit Pistons rounded out their training camp roster by signing Jules Bernard and Stanley Umude. Both players signed non-guaranteed camp deals.

Bernard went undrafted out of UCLA at the 2022 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-6 wing averaged 12.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as a senior for the Bruins.

Umude went undrafted out of Arkansas at the 2022 NBA Draft. Umude transferred to the Razorbacks after being a four-year player at South Dakota. As a senior, Umude averaged 11.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Both Bernard and Umude are expected to land with the Motor City Cruise of the G League after the preseason.

The Detroit Pistons have waived guard Kyler Edwards. The guard was recently signed to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Edwards is now expected to play for the Motor City Cruise of the G League this coming season. The Pistons roster now stands at 18 players, which is one more than the regular season maximum.

Detroit recently announced that Kemba Walker will not attend training camp. The Pistons will look for a new home for the veteran guard, and are expected to waive Walker if they can't find a trade.

Kemba Walker will likely not join the Detroit Pistons for the opening of training camp, sources told Shams Charania and James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

Walker played in 37 games for the Knicks last season.

The team will have to waive or trade a player by October 17 to be at the league limit for roster spots heading into the season. 

The Detroit Pistons have agreed to acquire Bojan Bogdanovic from the Utah Jazz for Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee.

The Jazz have entered a full rebuild mode and were widely expected to trade Bogdanovic before the start of the season.

Kyler Edwards has agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Detroit Pistons. 

Edwards went undrafted out of Houston in 2022 and played in four games in Summer League for the San Antonio Spurs.

The Detroit Pistons have waived guard Keifer Sykes. Sykes was recently signed in a move designed to gain his G League rights for the Motor City Cruise.

Sykes appeared in 32 games (11 starts) for the Indiana Pacers last season. The 6-foot guard averaged 5.6 points for the Pacers. Sykes averaged 16.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the G League.

The Detroit Pistons have signed Keifer Sykes to an Exhibit 10 deal.

Sykes appeared in 32 games last season with the Pacers, averaging 5.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17.7 minutes.

Sykes, who went undrafted out of Green Bay in 2015, had largely played overseas before his NBA debut last season.

Nerlens Noel's $58 million lawsuit against Rich Paul and Klutch Sports Group was dismissed on Tuesday.

The case was sent to the NBPA's arbitration system for further resolution. 

Noel initially filed the lawsuit against Paul in 2021, alleging that his former agent did "little to no work" to negotiate contracts, engage teams, and look for endorsement deals on his behalf.

Noel's attorney also argued that the player left a four-year, $70 million deal from the Mavs on the table following the 2016-17 season due to Paul's advice. Noel was then "forced to sign a series of qualifying offers and league minimum contracts which were well below the true value of Noel’s services."

Noel was most recently traded to the Pistons this summer.
