Nellie Rips Into Warriors

Oct 27, 2006 1:25 AM

Don Nelson made it clear that he was supremely disappointed with the Warriors' performance on Tuesday.

"It looked like the team last year. It made me kind of sick, watching that," Nelson said of the first half, when he spent his timeouts chewing out his players. "It's not good enough. Just not doing much of anything, not remembering what we were doing as a team, not following our game plan, not guarding. I mean, there wasn't hardly anything that they did right. There were so many things for me to correct, I couldn't do it. That's how bad it was."

Richardson Cleared To Practice

Oct 24, 2006 2:43 AM

Jason Richardson was cleared to return to practice on Monday.  He underwent surgery on his left knee on August 22nd.

``I'm sure that he'll be very rusty, and it'll take a while to get (back), but a week should be all he'll need,'' Don Nelson said. ``I think we have eight or nine days. Perfect timing.''

Monta Ellis and Dajuan Wagner have been filling in for Richardson at the shooting guard slot.

``It means we're getting one of our best players back,'' Nelson said. ``A lot of stuff I put in, I put in for (Richardson), so hopefully he'll be able to run it better than the other guys.''

Extension For Pietrus Unlikely

Oct 21, 2006 11:42 AM

Mickael Pietrus has until Oct. 30 to work out an extension with the Warriors, but the possibility of that happening is remote. Don Nelson has labeled him as one of the top players in training camp, but neither side says it is anticipating a new agreement.

"There have been no discussions concerning an extension for M.P.," Pietrus' agent, Herb Rudoy said via e-mail this week. "It is really up to the Warriors, and M.P. is willing to wait until next summer."

Nellie Has Warriors Decrease Three-Point Attempts

Oct 18, 2006 7:08 AM

Under the Don Nelson regime, the Warriors will abandon their eagerness to launch three-pointers so frequently.

"I saw the film of guys that'd miss five or six in a row and keep shooting, either long jump shots or threes,'' Nelson said. ``Nobody thought about driving or drawing and kicking, or getting fouled. You can't have that kind of an attitude."

They made 10 out of the 27 three-points they attempted on Tuesday, which is actually a 19.4 percent decrease from their attempt average of last season.

Warriors' Murphy Sidelined, Might Have Broken Nose

Oct 18, 2006 6:22 AM

As soon as Warriors center Troy Murphy fell to the Rose Garden floor Tuesday night, he knew something wasn't quite right.

"I could feel it wasn't sweat coming off of my face," Murphy said.

Instead, it was blood flowing from his nose, which was almost certainly broken by a blow from the right elbow of Portland Trail Blazers forward Zach Randolph late in the fourth quarter of the Warriors' 124-120 overtime win.

Murphy did not have X-rays taken Tuesday, but the team nevertheless said that "preliminary indications" were that he had suffered the third or fourth broken nose of his NBA career. Coach Don Nelson said Murphy "will probably miss some time" with the injury.
