Celtics, Spurs, Lakers, Warriors, Jazz Rated As Having Best Uniforms By Uni Watch

Aug 24, 2012 10:52 AM

Paul Lukas of Uni Watch ranks the uniforms of all 30 NBA teams, with the Celtics coming in first.

"The Rolling Stones, "Goodfellas," a Hershey's with almonds -- the classics are classic for a reason," writes Lukas about the Celtics. "That definitely applies to the Celtics' set. No goofy side panels, no extraneous bells or whistles -- just a perfect, vertically arched wordmark and a simple green-and-white color scheme. They rank atop this list despite sometimes wearing that black-trimmed alternate."

The Spurs, Lakers, Warriors and Jazz comprise the remainder of the top-five.

"The Raiders aren't the only team that knows how to wear silver and black," writes Lukas in regards to the Spurs. "In addition to the killer colors, the Spurs are also among the few NBA teams that have successfully incorporated a graphic image into their chest typography -- a small element that goes a long way."

Bogut Expects To Be Ready For Season Opener

Aug 20, 2012 10:53 AM

Andrew Bogut expects to be in the Warriors lineup for the season opener on Oct. 31.

“That’s my goal,” Bogut said. “I definitely want to be ready for training camp, and I think it will be close. But I think I’ll definitely be ready for the first game. So the immediate goal with all of this is to be ready for the first game, whether that means only playing in only half the preseason games or whatever or just being smart.

“It’s about being smart with my ankle. There’s no point in trying to get ready for October 1st, when another week might significantly help. I’m trying to get ready for camp, but my main goal is to be 110 percent for the first game of the season.”

Bogut has undergone two arthroscopic surgeries since fracturing his left ankle on Jan. 25.

Warriors Assessing Whether To Extend Stephen Curry

Aug 17, 2012 9:39 PM

The Warriors have until Oct. 31 to sign Stephen Curry to a contract extension.

"I've talked to Bob (Myers)," Curry said after working out at the team’s practice facility. "He's expressed that they want me as a part of the future. Obviously it's a business decision, an investment, and they have to protect themselves as well. I don't know what that'll mean and exactly what they'll offer. But hopefully they see how hard I've been working in the summer to get back and that I have a different optimism than I've had going into each year. I'm ready to go.

"They've seen me work out a little bit now. Knowing that we went into the ankle in April and saw there was no structural damage, no red flags that say, 'Hey, he's not going to be the same player ever again' -- all those things kind of add up to me being a good investment piece for the future."

Curry is scheduled to be a restricted free agent next offseason.

"You're playing chess with it," Curry said. "If they were to take that approach to wait and I've had a great season, hopefully it would spark some interest across the league for the future and the price would drive up. If I were the Warriors, I'd offer a reasonable amount and sign me up now."

Stephen Curry Expects To Be At Full Strength For Training Camp

Aug 16, 2012 10:00 PM

Stephen Curry plans to be at full strength when training camp starts in October and he said he has no doubt he'll be ready for the season-opener.

"No. None at all," Curry said. "The whole point of having surgery when I did and being patient with my rehab is so that on Oct. 31, I'm not having any restrictions or hesitancy."

Curry said his rehab is progressing according to plan.

"I'm just making sure that when I'm reacting, making cuts, especially on the defensive end, that my ankle is responding the right way," he said. "I know it will, but right now we're just taking each step: one-on-one, two-on-two, three-on-three to controlled five-on-five and then going full bore. That's the plan right now."

Draymond Green Expected To Bring Winning Attitude To Warriors

Aug 14, 2012 11:00 AM

Draymond Green is expected to bring a winning mentality to the Warriors.

"(Winning) is one thing that they're looking for me to bring and I look to bring. I know that I have some growing to do and I can't just walk in there and try to take things over," said Green, who averaged 6.4 points and 7.6 rebounds during the Warriors' 5-0 summer-league schedule. "There are guys who are established in the league and guys that I'm looking to learn from. But at the same time, I do want to bring that winning attitude and mentality and see where we can go with it."

Green played in two Final Fours while at Michigan State.

"Draymond — look at his resume," Warriors general manager Bob Myers said. "He went to one of the top colleges in the country and all he did was produce and win."

Stephen Curry To Step Up Rehab Work

Aug 14, 2012 12:09 AM

Stephen Curry plans to work out for four consecutive days starting Tuesday, the next step in his recovery from offseason ankle surgery.

“I don’t think he’ll have any restrictions,” said general manager Bob Myers. “He’s being cautious because he has time to be. But as far as full-go, he’s there right now. He’s not going to push it unnecessarily, though. He’s going to be cautious. But as far as restrictions, they’ve all been lifted.”

Curry has been challenging his ankle but not overdoing it.

“He’s been doing it (working out and playing), but not for long stretches of time,” Myers said of Curry. “He’ll go full speed, then stop to not push it because he doesn’t need to. We’re not going to try to break any barriers with it right now. But if you come watch him for 10 or 15 minutes, you’ll see him going full speed without restrictions.”

Myers Thinks Warriors Can Make Playoffs

Aug 2, 2012 10:37 AM

Bob Myers believes the Warriors are on the verge of vying for one of the top eight spots in the Western Conference.

"I'd be disappointed (if we don't)," Myers said via conference call. "I don't want that to turn into me saying we're a playoff team. But I would say that we're going in that direction. ... We expect to compete. We expect that we have a group that has the ability to be in the playoffs."

Myers recently re-signed Brandon Rush and added Carl Landry to a roster that includes Stephen Curry, Andrew Bogut and rookie small forward Harrison Barnes.

Myers shared his outlook for next season with Mark Jackson.

"I said I think you've got something to work with," Myers said. "There is only one mandate for us: win."

Warriors At Luxury Tax Line For First Time

Aug 1, 2012 3:51 PM

The Warriors have just barely entered luxury tax territory, though they are widely expected to be under the threshold at the end of the season when it is calculated.

The 12-13 salary of Charles Jenkins became fully guaranteed on Tuesday.

Golden State has never paid the luxury tax.

“Yes, we are into the tax and as I have said all along (though few actually listen *smiley face* ), we are prepared to spend money to WIN," wrote Joe Lacob in an email.

“We think we are going to be pretty good," wrote Lacob. "How good? Time will tell. But our fans deserve success! One way or another, we are going to turn this ship around and become what we can become….winners. Consistent winners. Our ultimate goal is to win the NBA championship."
