Stephen Curry Mulling Over 3-Point Shootout Invite

Jan 26, 2013 11:38 PM

MILWAUKEE – Stephen Curry has been extended an invitation from the NBA to participate in the three-point shootout during next month’s All-Star weekend, but he’s debating whether to head to Houston for just one event.

“It would be a big commitment heading down there for one event so I’m figuring out if I’m going to make that commitment,” Curry told RealGM on Saturday night.

Curry is adamant he has moved past his All-Star snub after the coaches failed to select him as a reserve on Thursday. If an injury replacement is needed on the Western Conference team, Curry will almost assuredly be a top option for commissioner David Stern.

Curry, who was in the 2010 three-point contest, is having a career season, averaging 21 points and 6.5 assists while leading the Golden State Warriors to a 26-17 record.

Curry Out Indefinitely With Sprained Ankle

Jan 17, 2013 2:25 AM

Stephen Curry is out indefinitely with a sprain of his right ankle that was sustained in Wednesday's shootaround.

"I haven't had a sprain in two-and-a-half months, so my ligaments are as probably the healthiest they've been," Curry said. "Just have to wait and see how they recover. "

"I haven't been in this situation for a while. I don't know if it will be a fast or slow kind of deal just because after two surgeries and all that process, it finally had the time to cool down. So we'll see tomorrow."

X-rays came back negative.

Curry's ankle had been a nonissue the first 36 games of the season.

Warriors Want Harrison Barnes To Be Aggressive 'At All Times'

Jan 16, 2013 12:18 PM

Throughout most of his rookie season, Harrison Barnes has been passive while learning the ropes of the NBA. The Golden State Warriors, however, want the rookie to be aggressive offensively all the time.

"It takes us to a different level when he's attacking and aggressive," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "At all times he's on the floor, I want his foot on the gas pedal. I want him to force me tell him, 'Slow down, young fella.' "

Barnes has scored in double-figures in six of his last eight games, averaging 11.1 points on 51.5 percent shooting in that span.

"It's important for him to realize that he has the (green) light," Jackson said. "If he wants to come down, get a rebound and facilitate a play, I want him to do that, and he has the light to do that. He has the light to go up to Steph and say, 'Run my play.' ... I want to see him aggressive. And I think that's going to come."
