Harrison Barnes Hopeful Of Participating In Dunk Contest

Sep 28, 2013 2:09 PM

Harrison Barnes felt ready to participate in the NBA dunk contest last season but never received the call. The second-year forward is again interested in being in the event this season.

"I guess I didn't have the resume last year, hopefully I can be in it this year," Barnes said at the Golden State Warriors' media day.

Barnes had a steady rookie season, highlighted by several remarkable dunks.

Barnes is expected to compete for his role as a possible starter this season.

Stephen Curry has left Nike to become the centerpiece endorser for Under Armour.

Under Armour has deals with Brandon Jennings and DeAndre Jordan, but Curry will clearly elevate the brand.

Curry has not made an All-Star Game, but he is widely considered one of the NBA's more marketable athletes.

Andrew Bogut Proclaims He'll Be Top Three Center 'When Healthy'

Sep 13, 2013 7:02 PM

Andrew Bogut says he is fully 100 percent, without restrictions, and is able to participate in all drills. The Golden State Warriors' big man also proclaimed to be a top three center in the NBA -- with an asterisk.

"Yeah ... when healthy," Bogut said. "And I'm healthy now."

Bogut had been rehabbing a troublesome left ankle.

"I haven't had any restrictions since July," Bogut said from team facility, where most of the roster has been working out in preparation for training camp. "Five-on-five, three-on-three, four-on-four, conditioning drills, running, jumping, weights -- no restrictions. It's been a great feeling to come into a gym and not have a trainer tell me, 'You can only do 30 minutes. You can only do this. You can only do that.' ... Very happy to not hear that."

Klay Thompson Confident He Could Adjust To Reserve Role If Needed

Sep 12, 2013 1:13 AM

The acquisition of Andre Iguodala could send Klay Thompson to the Golden State Warriors' bench, but the young shooting guard is confident he would be able to make that transition if needed, having been a reserve most of his rookie season.

"It took me a few games to get used to it because I'd started my whole life," Thompson said. "Once I got used to it and once I found my rhythm, it was nothing to me. You can still be a great player off the bench.

"I'm not too worried about (starting). I'm just worried about getting better and getting in the best shape I can."

Concerned about the team first, Thompson has fully endorsed the signing of Iguodala.

"I was happy I don't have to go against him any more," Thompson said. "He's going to be great for us. He's a good scorer but he's an even better playmaker. He's a great leader. I can see it in these two weeks I've been here. He's going to help us. He's going to be like a swiss army knife. ... That's a huge signing for us."

Harrison Barnes Concerned With Winning, Not Starting

Sep 11, 2013 1:39 PM

Harrison Barnes is adamant he is not concerned about whether he starts next season for the Golden State Warriors.

"Winning the game matters more to me," Barnes said.

"I can imagine much worse problems. I feel confident about this team and where we can go. Regardless if I'm starting or coming off the bench, I think we have a chance to make a serious playoff push."

Barnes averaged 16.1 points and 6.4 rebounds over the Warriors' two playoff series last season against Denver and San Antonio.

Barnes is expected to play heavy minutes at power forward.

Cameron Jones will participate in the Golden State Warriors' training camp.

Jones was the Most Improved Player of the D-League last season while with the Santa Cruz Warriors.

"I think Cam is the best kept secret in the D-League this season," said Kirk Lacob of the Warriors' front office. "He really hasn't gotten his name out there all too much, but he was a first-round draft pick in the NBADL last season."
