Bogut: Warriors Close To Being Built For Title, But Not There Yet

Jan 21, 2014 1:14 PM

The Golden State Warriors continued their struggles against better teams on Monday, losing 102-94 to the Indiana Pacers.

The Warriors have lost six games at home this season, all among the NBA's elite except for the Denver Nuggets.

"(The Pacers) are a team built for a championship, you can see that," Andrew Bogut said. "We're close, but we're not there yet. Our start was dismal, and then I thought the next three quarters we competed a little better and played our style of basketball. But the first quarter cost us."

Warriors Acquire Jordan Crawford, MarShon Brooks In Trade With Celtics, Heat

Jan 15, 2014 1:14 PM

The Golden State Warriors have acquired Jordan Crawford and Marshon Brooks for Toney Douglas and part of their traded player exception in a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.

The Warriors have been looking to improve their backcourt depth, with discussions also taking place for Kyle Lowry and Kirk Hinrich.

The Heat will acquire Douglas, while sending Joel Anthony to the Celtics.

The Celtics will also receive the protected future first round pick of the Philadelphia 76ers from the Heat, along with a future second round pick. The pick from the 76ers is lottery protected in 2014 and 2015 and then becomes a second rounder.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports that the deal will likely save upwards of $10 million for the Heat in salary and luxury tax. The Heat were scheduled to have a $33 million tax bill in July, but it is now approximately $15.5 million due to the trade of Anthony and their decision to amnesty Mike Miller.

The Golden State Warriors passed on a possible trade acquiring Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors, according to a source.

The Warriors reportedly declined a deal due to concerns about Lowry's ability to fit into the locker room.

Myers: David Lee's Detractors 'Proven Patently Wrong'

Jan 14, 2014 1:14 PM

David Lee has long been considered the odd man out for the Golden State Warriors by many observers and a trade candidate due to his massive contract and the team's success in playing with a small ball lineup.

But Lee has played well of late and the Warriors' starting lineup has scored nearly 118 points per 100 possessions.

“Our starting lineup is off the charts in terms of points and points allowed per possession,” general manager Bob Myers said. “And to assume you can replace someone who is a part of that — well, you don’t just replace someone like that. A lot of his detractors have been proven patently wrong, and they should admit they jumped the gun.”

Myers admits that Mark Jackson can do more to experiment with various lineup combinations, such as playing Andrew Bogut as the long big.

“We can improve as far as playing together, and finding out more about which lineups work and which don’t,” said Myers.

Jason Kidd and Mark Jackson both shared supportive words before Wednesday's game between the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors.

Kidd is a rookie coach straight out of his NBA career and says he looks toward Mark Jackson as "my role model." Jackson became the Warriors' head coach after a long broadcasting career.

“He’s gone from playing to being a head coach and being a very good head coach,” Kidd said. “I’ve talked to him throughout the season.

"Hopefully  I can become a coach like him.”
