Warriors Haven't Made Final Decision On Mark Jackson's Future

Apr 30, 2014 9:04 PM

The Golden State Warriors haven't made a final decision on the future of Mark Jackson, but the beginning of issues was when Joe Lacob engaged in brief extension talks with Jackson's agent last offseason.

Lacob raised the issue of Jackson at least establishing a partial residence in the Bay Area. Jackson remains largely based in Southern California.

Jackson is under contract for one more season and has generally done a good job with what had been a disappointing run of seasons since the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

Jackson is beloved by most players on the roster and respected by the front office, but he also has been a target for fans and sometimes for Warriors' executives.

Fred Hoiberg and Steve Kerr are at the top of the Warriors' hypothetical short list should they decide to part ways with Jackson.

Warriors Planned To Walk Off Court After Tip-Off In Game 5

Apr 29, 2014 10:09 PM

The Golden State Warriors planned on walking off the floor after tip-off in Game 5 if Adam Silver not banned Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling for life.

“It would have been our only chance to make a statement in front of the biggest audience that we weren’t going to accept anything but the maximum punishment,” Stephen Curry said. “We would deal with the consequences later but we were not going to play.”

The Warriors’ players wanted to protest previously, but decided to give Silver a chance to do the right thing.

Curry, David Lee, Andre Iguodala and Jermaine O’Neal were behind the boycott idea.

The idea included plans to reach out to the Clippers' players, hoping they would join them.

Brian Scalabrine was reassigned by the Golden State Warriors after weeks of disrespect toward Mark Jackson and other coaches.

Scalabrine mainly ignored and refused to speak with the other coaches and sources say he went five weeks without communicating with Mark Jackson.

Scalabrine even avoided the coaches on the Warriors' team plane, sitting in a separate section.

Erman Was Fired By Warriors For Secretly Taping Talks

Apr 29, 2014 10:51 AM

Darren Erman was fired by the Golden State Warriors earlier this month for a "violation of company policy."

Erman was secretly recording conversations between the Warriors' coaches and players.

Sources said Erman, who was coach Mark Jackson's second assistant, would record coaches' meetings, meetings between the coaches and players, and informal discussions among coaches that took place in the team's coaches room -- all without the participants' knowledge.

"He was taping everything," one source said. "Taping pregame speeches wouldn't have been that bad, but he was taping guys just sitting around talking in the coaches' office."

Erman would be present during the tapings at some points, but he would leave his phone behind to record conversations other coaches were having without him present.

The Warriors' other coaches began noticing a change in Erman's demeanor and behavior in March, a source said. A few weeks later, they discovered that he was recording them.

Erman was hired by the Boston Celtics on Tuesday as Director of NBA Scouting.

Celtics Hire Darren Erman As Director Of NBA Scouting

Apr 29, 2014 10:45 AM

The Boston Celtics have hired Darren Erman as Director of NBA Scouting, according to sources.

Erman had been a coaching assistant with the Celtics for four years before joining the Golden State Warriors as an assistant coach.

Erman was fired by the Warriors for "a violation of company policy", which sources say stemmed from a single taped conversation of coaches who had been working to undermine his game preparation and relationships with players.

Erman had other job opportunities before rejoining the Celtics, including reuniting with Doc Rivers.

Clippers Discussed Boycott After Sterling's Comments But Will Continue To Play

Apr 26, 2014 4:41 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers discussed Donald Sterling's alleged racist comments before practice on Saturday and brought up the possibility of boycotting by not playing.

Still, Doc Rivers said he was against the idea, that the Clippers will play in Game 4 against the Golden State Warriors, and called the situation "a distraction."

"We're not happy with any of it," Rivers said. "We're going to let the due process happen. It upsets me and upsets this team. JJ Redick was just pissed as Chris Paul."

Warriors Seriously Considering Lineup Change For Game 4

Apr 25, 2014 11:59 PM

Mark Jackson said he's giving "some serious thought" to making a chance in the Golden State Warriors' starting lineup heading into Game 4.

"I could make a change," Jackson said Friday. "I won't say whether I will or with who, but it's possible. We've got to figure out a way to present some resistance. I think things are going a little too smoothly right now for Blake" Griffin."

The Warriors could start Draymond Green in place of Jermaine O'Neal, a switch that took place in the Warriors' second half run in Game 3.

Report: Warriors To Buy New Site In San Francisco, Abandon Waterfront Plans

Apr 21, 2014 4:23 PM

The Golden State Warriors and Salesforce.com have agreed on terms to sell the team a future arena site on a sprawling patch of Mission Bay land off Third Street, according to multiple sources.

The sale would doom the proposed waterfront arena on Piers 30 and 32.

The potential sale would connect the dots between a series of major real-estate transactions involving Salesforce and the Dogpatch-area land it owns.
