Stephen Curry Has Had Thoughts About Playing For Hometown Hornets

Aug 13, 2014 2:19 PM

Stephen Curry was asked if watching LeBron James returning to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers would lead him to consider playing for his hometown Charlotte Hornets.

"I've always had thoughts about playing at home, what it would be like," Curry said on The Doug Gottlieb Show. "My dad played there for 10 years, and people around the Greater Charlotte area in North Carolina have done a lot for my family growing up, so you always think about it.

"Right now I feel like I've got three years left on my deal, so this isn't going to be an issue for me for a while. I love the Bay Area and where we are as a team trying to win a championship, and that's what it's all about. Of course everybody dreams about or thinks about what it's going to be like to play at home. Obviously if that opportunity comes along it's a different discussion."

Curry is in the middle of a four-year contract with the Golden State Warriors.

Kerr Prepared To Move Forward With Current Warriors' Roster

Aug 8, 2014 12:46 AM

Steve Kerr admitted he did not have a reaction to the reported Kevin Love trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Golden State Warriors have also been involved in discussions for Love, but they were unwilling to part with Klay Thompson. Kerr is entering his first season as Warriors' head coach and is comfortable with the current roster.

"All indications are that this is the group we're going forward with, but you never say never," Kerr said. "You never know what's going to happen, and ultimately that's not my job. I'm coaching the team that's here, but there's no question that we feel very confident and comfortable with the group that we have."

Kerr mentioned Thompson and David Lee as "automatic" starters for next season along with Stephen Curry and Andrew Bogut.

"Andre (Iguodala) started last year, which he probably will (again), but there's a lot of options that we have because we've got really good players in Harrison (Barnes) and Draymond (Green)," Kerr said, adding that he would likely use the same lineup as last season. "But most of it usually comes down to how the combination fits. ... How do the pieces of the puzzle fit?"

Timberwolves Expect To Execute Kevin Love Deal By Aug. 23-24

Aug 2, 2014 10:06 PM

The Minnesota Timberwolves expect to trade Kevin Love by Aug. 23 or Aug. 24.

"I'm saying it's most likely because Kevin has made it pretty clear that that's what he wants to do," Wolves owner Glen Taylor said.

Taylor still prefers for the Timberwolves to keep Love. The August date is when Andrew Wiggins can officially be traded.

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain the strong bet for Love, but the Timberwolves are also listening to offers from the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors. The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to be part of any three-team deal involving Love.

"I think when you move somebody like Kevin, who's been an all-star, that you've got to get a number of players on your team that have the potential of replacing him," Taylor said. "Flip (Saunders, Wolves president) has looked at this team and offensively, he's got a pretty good team. Defensively, it's got to be better, so I think that's where some of the areas will be replaced."
