Stephen Curry, Brook Lopez Named NBA Players Of The Week

Mar 30, 2015 3:19 PM

Stephen Curry and Brook Lopez have been named the NBA's Players of the Week.

Curry helped the Warriors to a 4-0 week, with all four wins coming against teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today. He averaged 30.0 points (third in the conference) and 8.0 assists (second in the conference), and connected on 24-of-38 three-point field goals (63.2 percent). Curry posted back-to-back point-assist double-doubles on March 24 and 27 during wins over the Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies.

Lopez led the Nets to a 3-1 week behind a conference-best 28.8 points, 8.5 rebounds (10th in the conference) and 2.25 blocks (tied-third in the conference). Lopez shot 57.8 percent from the field overall and converted better than 60.0 percent twice. He recorded two point-rebound double-doubles, including a 34-point, 10-rebound effort during which he also contributed three blocks and two steals in a 91-88 win over the Charlotte Hornets on March 25.

Speights: We Knew Wizards Would Argue, Quit If We Turned Up Defense

Mar 24, 2015 12:22 PM

Marreese Speights said he knew the Washington Wizards would falter in Monday's game if the Golden State Warriors elevated their defense.

"We just turned up a little," Speights said. "We knew if we hit them, if we got a couple stops they would start arguing with each other and quit. We went out there with a good mindset in the second half and we did it.”

The Wizards lost 107-76 and were outscored 29-8 in the third quarter.

Marreese Speights has been suspended one game by the NBA for reckless driving.

Speights recently pled no contest on the charge, which occurred in August.

David Lee has been out of the Golden State Warriors' rotation of late and presumably will take Speights' place during the suspension.

David Lee: I Couldn't Take Reduced Role If We Weren't Winning

Mar 10, 2015 8:42 PM

David Lee is the highest paid player on the Golden State Warriors and is signed through the 15-16 season, but he's become an auxiliary option this season.

Draymond Green supplanted Lee as the starting power forward and Lee also splits time with Marreese Speights.

Lee had his second DNP-CD in three games on Monday.

"We're winning and we're having fun," Lee said. "It's hard at times. I couldn't do this if we weren't winning. But we are. I'm not going to put myself ahead of that."

"I communicate with all my players, all the time," Steve Kerr said. "And every player is different. Every situation is different. This is a really tricky one.

"David's a great player. He's been an All-Star. He's still in his prime," he went on. "What's been tricky is that we’ve developed a formula while he was out that has been very effective for us. And you compound that with the fact that the whole league is going small at the 4-position and every night you're playing a 3-point shooter at the 4 spot. We've adapted to that. We've adapted to our early-season lineups. Draymond has obviously grabbed that position. So it's tricky."

Jazz Discussed David Lee Trade With Warriors At Deadline

Mar 6, 2015 11:07 AM

The Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors reportedly had serious discussions at the deadline on a trade involving David Lee.

The Warriors are considering moving the final year of Lee's contract due to cap concerns and his reduced role following the emergence of Draymond Green.

The Warriors and Jazz agreed upon a cap saving trade in 2013 when Utah took on the contracts of Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson and Brandon Rush.
