Stephen Curry Loves Warriors, 2017 Free Agency Isn't Appealing

Aug 24, 2015 5:06 PM

Stephen Curry can become a free agent in 2017, but the prospect of leaving the Golden State Warriors isn't currently appealing to the reigning MVP.

"As I am thinking right now, free agency isn't really appealing to me because I love where I'm at, love the organization I'm playing for and the Bay Area is home for me and my family," Curry told the Sporting News.

Curry is the Warriors' fifth-highest paid player with a salary of just $11.37 million for 15-16.

Curry cautioned against getting too focused on the long term.

"I think the best approach for me is to try and stay as in the moment as possible," the 27-year-old said.

"It helps being world champs, and you want to continue to build the momentum that we've established and I hope to have a huge part of that in the long term," Curry said.

Warriors Reach Deal To Sign Jarell Eddie For Training Camp

Aug 22, 2015 4:23 PM

The Golden State Warriors have reached agreement on a deal with free agent sharpshooter Jarell Eddie, league sources told RealGM.

Eddie will join Ian Clark and Chris Babb on a training camp deal to compete for the Warriors’ final roster spot. At 6-foot-7, Eddie possesses the size and shooting to fulfill a reserve role opened by the departure of Justin Holiday. Several NBA and overseas teams pursued the former 2014 undrafted forward before his commitment to Golden State.

Eddie won the NBA D-League’s three-point shootout in his first professional year last season. In 44 games with the Austin Spurs, Eddie averaged 12.9 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 45.2 percent from three-point land.

Eddie played summer league for the Indiana Pacers in Orlando and the champion San Antonio Spurs in Las Vegas. He scored 10.9 points and connected at 46.3 percent on 5.6 averaged three-point shots per game over seven contests.

Out of Virginia Tech, Eddie spent part of last season with the Atlanta Hawks on a 10-day contract.

Kevon Looney Undergoes Hip Surgery, Out 4-6 Months

Aug 20, 2015 9:15 PM

Kevon Looney underwent a successful right hip arthroscopy on Thursday morning to repair a torn labrum.

The procedure was performed by renowned Steadman Clinic orthopaedic surgeon and hip specialist Dr. Marc Philippon at the Vail Valley Surgery Center in Vail, Colorado.

Looney will begin rehabilitation from the surgery immediately and is expected to be out a minimum of four-to-six months before returning to basketball activity.

Looney was the 30th overall pick by the Golden State Warriors out of UCLA.

“Kevon has his entire NBA career ahead of him and we felt that, in consultation with our medical staff, Kevon and his representatives, it was best to address the issue now,” said Bob Myers. “He will have our complete support throughout the rehabilitation process and we are confident he will make a full recovery.”

Curry Has Issue With Oddsmakers Not Listing Warriors As Title Favorites

Aug 14, 2015 11:14 AM

The Golden State Warriors are not listed by oddsmakers as favorites to win the 2016 NBA Championship, which Stephen Curry finds "funny."

The Cleveland Cavaliers are listed as favorites at 11-4, while the Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are tied for second at 9-2.

"We obviously are the champs, and you've got to think that we're gonna be a better team next year with our experiences that we've had, and we're not the favorites," Curry said. "Obviously there's been a lot of noise, teams retooling and trying to boost their lineups. You have teams that haven't set foot on the floor yet and are heavily favored to kick us off our throne."

Cleveland of course has an easier path to The Finals in the Eastern Conference and took the Warriors to six games without Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.

"We obviously know what's going on," Curry said. "And it's up to us to keep our momentum that we built."

Warriors To Host Cavs On Christmas Day

Aug 7, 2015 5:23 PM

The Golden State Warriors will host the Cleveland Cavaliers at Oracle Arena on Christmas Day.

The Warriors and Cavaliers played in last season's Finals.

The NBA reserves the right to make changes before the schedule is announced but annually issues a tentative schedule in advance of the full release. Cavs-Warriors is the second Christmas Day matchup reported in recent days.

The Miami Herald reported earlier this week that the Heat will host Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans in the first of the day's games on Christmas.
