Kevin Durant's Meeting With Thunder 'Further Solidified His Belief' He'll Re-Sign

Jun 30, 2016 11:53 PM

Kevin Durant met with the Oklahoma City Thunder for several hours on Thursday ahead of the start of free agency.

"The meeting further solidified his belief" that Durant will re-sign with the Thunder, according to Wojnarowski.

Durant is going into the meetings with rival teams with an open mind.

"Golden State has the best chance amongst the five (rival) teams," said Wojnarowski.

Durant is also intrigued by the Los Angeles Clippers. Durant loves the city of Los Angeles and is good friends with Chris Paul, while the presence of Steve Ballmer is also considered an ancillary benefit.

Durant is expected to make his decision by the end of July 4th.

Warriors Could Pivot To Pau Gasol If Unable To Sign Durant

Jun 30, 2016 11:42 PM

If the Golden State Warriors are unable to sign Kevin Durant, they could pivot towards Pau Gasol.

Gasol took less money to sign with the Chicago Bulls in 2014 and isn't as interested in taking a significant discount this time in free agency.

But Gasol could be motivated by the market and the chance to play for a contender.

The Warriors may consider moving on from Andrew Bogut this summer.

The Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs are also interested in Gasol.

Warriors To Pitch Kevin Durant On Possibilities Of Super Death Lineup

Jun 30, 2016 5:38 PM

The Golden State Warriors will meet with Kevin Durant on Friday morning in the Hamptons.

Joe Lacob, Bob Myers, Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will attend the meeting with Durant.

The Warriors will pitch Durant on a Super Death Lineup of Curry, Thompson, Durant, Green, Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.

Durant will have input on filling out the rest of the Warriors' roster. The Warriors hope they will be able to sign a center to join this core.

The Warriors have had great success with a lineup featuring Curry, Thompson, Iguodala and Green with Harrison Barnes at small forward.

Longtime Friend: Kevin Durant's Decision '90 Percent Made'

Jun 30, 2016 3:40 PM

Kevin Durant is widely expected to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder for at least one more season.

Durant will meet with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs.

“His decision is 90 percent made. It would take an amazing sales pitch to change it,” said one of Durant’s longtime friends.

Another Durant colleague said, “It’s going to take some sweet-talking to get him to pass up all the money he can get by staying in OKC.”

Cavs, Rockets, Heat, Warriors, Spurs Interested In Timofey Mozgov

Jun 30, 2016 1:10 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are among the teams interested in signing Mozgov.

Mozgov had an excellent 14-15 season after coming over to the Cavaliers in a trade from the Denver Nuggets, but he struggled to get all the way healthy in 15-16 after offseason knee surgery.

The Cavs primarily used Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love and Channing Frye at the center spot in the playoffs.

Warriors Frustrated By Andrew Bogut, Could Look For Trade

Jun 29, 2016 8:11 PM

The Golden State Warriors have grown frustrated with Andrew Bogut and is the player they would like to move if they are able to agree upon terms with Kevin Durant.

The Warriors drafted Damian Jones, a center out of Vanderbilt, which was a pointed message to Festus Ezeli ahead of his restricted free agency and also has an indication of how they feel about Bogut.

Steve Kerr is committed to having a versatile lineup with the ability to play both big and small, but they've grown frustrated by Bogut's unreliability.

The Warriors apparently were displeased with much of Bogut’s postseason work prior to the injury he suffered in The Finals.

The Warriors would likely choose Ezeli over Bogut as the player they would prefer to keep.

Bogut is entering the final season of his contract with a base salary of $11.03 million.

Warriors' Players Have Been Recruiting Kevin Durant All Season

Jun 29, 2016 1:33 PM

The Golden State Warriors' front office has long been planning to pursue Kevin Durant and several of their players reached out to him throughout the season.

"Here's the thing that's interesting about Golden State: their players have been recruiting Kevin Durant all year," said Wojnarowski. "It goes back to earlier in the season when the Thunder were struggling. I don't know that Golden State saw them as a peer or as a threat. They weren't playing great. They were in that mid-range in the west.

"Kevin Durant was hearing from guys on the Warriors about 'hey, you can help take the pressure off Steph Curry. We need you.'

"This was when they were running off win after win after win. They had him on their mind. It appealed to him.

"It's text messages, it's a lot of that. But the communication with some of the players of Golden State and Kevin, that's not just starting now."

Lakers Interested In Harrison Barnes, Hassan Whiteside, Al Horford

Jun 28, 2016 8:15 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers' top priority in free agency is Kevin Durant but they are also interested in Harrison Barnes, Hassan Whiteside and Al Horford.

The Lakers have enough cap space to sign multiple max contract players.

Los Angeles also hired Luke Walton as head coach and they feel he and their young players make for an attractive situation to prospective free agents as they try to turnaround after multiple seasons of a rebuild.

Warriors Won't Release Shaun Livingston

Jun 28, 2016 6:02 PM

The Golden State Warriors will keep Shaun Livingston on their books for next season.

The Warriors could have saved $2.7 million by releasing Livingston before July 1st, but his $5.7 million is now fully guaranteed.

"I would love to be back with Warriors next year and feel there is something special cultivating with the organization," Livingston said via text message. "The time spent there has allowed me the platform to see the ingredients of winning and the importance of culture.

"With KD, the ball is in his court and it should be. He's earned this right and he has to make the best decision for him and his family."
