Steve Kerr is one of the only people in the NBA who has been both a general manager and a head coach, but he never had both roles at the same time.

"One of the reasons I wanted to coach is because frankly it's easier than being a GM and facing some of those choices," Kerr said. "So I'm lucky, I've got a great GM, a great friend in Bob [Myers] and when we've been faced with difficult decisions the collaboration and the process that we've had has been really sound and I've learned a lot actually from being part of it. We're in the midst of a good run obviously and we're lucky to be where we are and it's been smooth, but we're all going to face our moments. It's the NBA, it's tough out there."

Kerr was asked whether he believes someone could be successful in both roles.

"I'm sure it can," Kerr said, when asked if someone could still be successful in a dual coach/GM type role. "But it wouldn't work for me. It depends on the circumstances, the situation. It depends on relationships within the organization. Everybody is going to be structured a little differently. But having sat in both chairs I would not be comfortable doing both jobs."

Klay Thompson reiterated his desire to remain with the Golden State Warriors. Thompson will be a free agent in 2019.

"It's awesome," Thompson said after Thursday's practice. "Makes you want to win now, though, that's for sure. Makes you want to make the most of it. I think we have in the last two years.

"It's crazy because we are back-to-back champs, but at the same time I feel like we're all relatively young and we can still get to another level and keep winning. Not just this year, but years beyond. Not a lot of guys can do that with their team. So I love coming to work every day because I realize this is a special group and a special time to be a Warrior."

Thompson was asked whether he would be weighing that factor more heavily in the offseason, he replied without hesitation.

"Yeah, definitely," Thompson said. "I think it would be stupid not to be. It's hard to walk away from something -- you were here when it started and yeah, you just want to stay on the train as long as you can."

DeMarcus Cousins is rehabbing his Achilles injury and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

“I’m stubborn as hell,” said Cousins. “I thought I knew that before, but I’m really starting to realize it now. My drive has only increased. I’m seriously like a madman right now.

“I think you guys will see a new DeMarcus on the floor. I can’t wait to get to that point just to show all the work I have put in.”

Cousins was asked what has helped most during his rehab and he replied with an on-brand statement.

“The haters," said Cousins. "That’s all I need. I feed off of it. I love it.”

The Warriors aren't ready to set a target date for his return.

“I know there’s a narrative that we’ll save DeMarcus for the playoffs, and that’s inaccurate,” general manager Bob Myers said. “When he can play, he’ll play. We won’t rush him, but we also won’t hold him back.”

Golden State will play Jordan Bell, Kevon Looney and Damian Jones at center.

Kevin Durant signed a two-year, $61.5 million deal with the Golden State Warriors in the offseason instead of a long-term deal.

Durant's future remains uncertain and speculation has increased in the media that he could potentially leave the Warriors.

"It's one of those things you're confident in those skills you want to keep it year by year," said Durant. "I easily could've signed a long-term deal, but I wanted to take it season by season and where it takes me. This whole year will be an exciting year for us all. We'll see what happens after the year."

The Golden State Warriors have hired Mike Dunleavy Jr. as a pro scout.

Dunleavy was drafted by the Warriors in 2002.

Dunleavy spent 15 years in the NBA.

Kevin Durant will have a business-oriented program on ESPN+.

The show will be hosted by Jay Williams and will delve into topics such as the sneaker business.

Durant has increased his efforts in investment opportunities since joining the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

Tyler Ulis has agreed to sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Golden State Warriors.

Ulis will be with the Warriors in camp.

The Phoenix Suns waived Ulis this offseason.

The Golden State Warriors have promoted David Kelly to Chief Legal Officer, Business and Basketball.

Kelly will continue to report to Rick Welts and Bob Myers.

Kelly is responsible for all legal matters affecting the company, manages matters related to the salary cap and luxury tax planning for the team, oversees the organization's human resources department, and handles many of the company's key projects and initiatives on both the business and basketball sides of the organization. Through his promotion, Kelly now also oversees player development and public/government affairs for the organization.

The Golden State Warriors are expected to sign Will Cherry to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Cherry played five games with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 14-15.

Cherry spent last season with KK Cedevita.
