Steve Kerr: DeMarcus Cousins Got Warriors Through Tough Days

Jan 30, 2019 9:18 PM

Steve Kerr credited DeMarcus Cousins with giving the Golden State Warriors a fresh energy during their 11-game win streak.

"No dog days this year. It's been nice. I think he personally got us through what would normally be the tough stretch. Let's face it: We had some tough days earlier in the season, between injuries and some drama and all that stuff. So it doesn't feel like a normal January, February point of the schedule. It feels fresher, and a lot of that has to do with DeMarcus," said Kerr.

Kerr also added that Cousins' presence in the post freed up Draymond Green.

"He's playing as well as I've ever seen him play. The assist-to-turnover ratio is spectacular, kind of unheard of. And it's not just the assist, it's the push, it's the constant pressure he's putting on the defense. And then picking up the ball if nothing's there and moving it on. It's a highly underrated skill in the NBA," said Kerr of Green's recent play.

Klay Thompson To Look At Lakers If Not Offered Max By Warriors This Summer

Jan 29, 2019 7:41 PM

An unrestricted free agent after this season, Klay Thompson would be interested in the Los Angeles Lakers if the Golden State Warriors do not offer him the max and the Lakers trade for Anthony Davis, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

“The best-case scenario for the Lakers is that they add Anthony Davis and then Golden State doesn’t offer Klay Thompson a max contract. They try to get Klay to take a little bit less than the max. And if that happens, I’m told Klay’s attention will be on the Lakers if they have Anthony Davis," said Wojnarowski on Sportscenter.

Thompson and Kevin Durant are free agents at the end of this season, with Draymond Green's contract expiring in 2020.

Thompson has previously stated that he wants to finish his career with the Warriors.

Steph Curry After 50th Game Of Season: 'This is Playoff Mentality Time'

Jan 29, 2019 3:18 PM

Following the Golden State Warriors' 132-100 win over the Indiana Pacers, Steph Curry said that the Warriors are turning up the intensity following their 50th game of the NBA season.

"Coach hit us with what game this is -- I think it's 50. And you think about how quickly that springs on you. You get back from All-Star break, you still have 30 games and you're like, 'All right, this is playoff mentality time,' and you start to ramp it up, so we're starting early."

The Warriors have won 11 straight games, and have also won 10 straight road games while scoring at least 110 points in each game.

Curry added that DeMarcus Cousins continues to improve within the team.

"Every game, he's looking a little bit more athletic, more confident. Got a little bit more of a rhythm. Understanding where he's going to get his touches. Just the way he runs in transition defensively, the effort he's bringing on that end of the floor, as well."

Anonymous Warriors Player: Gordon Hayward Is Liability On Both Ends Of Court

Jan 27, 2019 8:43 PM

Following the Golden State Warriors' 115-111 win over the Boston Celtics, an anonymous Warriors player told Jeff Goodman that Gordon Hayward was hurting the Celtics on both ends of the court.

“I talked to a Warriors player who told me, ‘listen, Gordon Hayward is not Gordon Hayward right now. He’s hurting them. He’s a liability on both ends of the court'," reported Goodman on the Garden Report.

Hayward finished the game with just 2 points on 0-5 shooting.

Steph Curry: Warriors Can Still Get Better

Jan 27, 2019 8:26 PM

Steph Curry stated that the Golden State Warriors can still improve following their 115-111 win over the Boston Celtics.

The win over the Celtics was their 10th straight on the season, and also the 6th straight season they've had a winningest streak of at least 10 games.

Curry added that the return of DeMarcus Cousins gave the Warriors an edge.

"Probably the best thing we're doing now is taking care of the ball. Playmakers are making the right decisions more times than not, getting shots up -- that's obviously when the talent takes over. Our defense has been better. People are settling into rotations with DeMarcus, and we got an edge about us. It hasn't been perfect, and we know we can still be better. We've talked about putting a run together for a while now, and we're right in the middle of a really good one. You want to create good vibes, especially with the All-Star break coming up, and continue to build momentum the second half of the season."

Kevin Durant Opens After-School Facility In Hometown

Jan 24, 2019 2:31 AM

Kevin Durant opened the College Track at The Durant Center, an after-school facility, in his hometown of Prince George's County, Maryland.

The facility features a $10 million endowment from Durant and will provide scholarships, tutoring, and emotional and financial support to help students get into college.

The inaugural class had 69 students.

“As a basketball player, it’s easy for us to say, ‘Let’s create an AAU team or let’s do a camp.’ As you get older, you start to look for bigger ways to impact. I see my peers, and not just NBA players but athletes in general, but just trying to push the future forward, push the youth forward,” said Durant.

Kevin Durant: Lakers Were Figuring Out Identity Before LeBron James' Injury

Jan 22, 2019 7:00 PM

The Golden State Warriors blew out the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday by a final score of 130-111. The win came just under a month after the Warriors lost on Christmas Day when LeBron James was injured.

“They’re a team trying to figure out their identity, and I think they were figuring it out before Bron got hurt,” Kevin Durant said.

The Warriors have faced James' teams 32 times since the 14-15 season.

“I think here, with his injury, it kind of threw a wrench into the chemistry with the team because I think they were in a good groove, especially when they killed us on Christmas,” Durant said. “I think they’re going to be a team to be reckoned with in the playoffs.”

“I don’t know that they’ve played enough games together to even judge it. I know they’ve got some good talent on that team,” said Draymond Green.

“I ain’t going to add nothing to what’s already been said,” Stephen Curry said. “He’s one of the all-time greats. He makes them better. The rest is to be seen.”

DeMarcus Cousins: Warriors Are The Most Hated Team In Sports

Jan 17, 2019 10:46 AM

DeMarcus Cousins is set to make his debut with the Golden State Warriors on Friday.

Cousins signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the Warriors in the offseason as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon.

"I don't really pay attention to storylines," Cousins said. "I mean, they're gonna say what they have to say. They're gonna add their opinions. We're the most hated team in sports."

When Cousins said the Warriors are the most hated team in sports, Rachel Nichols asked about the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.

"Well, put us up there. I would say the Warriors are for sure. You know they hate Kevin [Durant]. They hate me. I think the only guy they really like is Stephen [Curry]. Actually, they may hate him as well. They hate Draymond Green. But I mean, it is what it is. I can't worry about that."

Cousins is confident he'll return to his All-Star form in time.

"I'm back, and I'm not looking back," Cousins said. "I'm moving forward. I'm leaving it on the floor every night. And I plan on coming back for that top spot."
