The Golden State Warriors are considering hiring Lloyd Pierce on the coaching staff of Steve Kerr.
Kerr and Pierce are on Gregg Popovich's staff for the United States National Team. The Warriors lost Jarron Collins this offseason.
The Atlanta Hawks parted ways with Pierce on March 1st. Pierce played collegiately at Santa Clara and is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Golden State Warriors came away from the lottery with the No. 7 and No. 14 picks in this year's draft after using the second overall pick in 2020 on James Wiseman.
"There is a widespread expectation that the Warriors will use No. 7 and Wiseman, in particular, to seek more immediate upgrades to the roster," writes John Hollinger at The Athletic. "One name to watch: Pascal Siakam."
Wiseman had an inconsistent rookie season and his fit in Golden State's offense and on their timeline of contention is unclear.
The Golden State Warriors have had no serious internal discussions on trading James Wiseman, sources tell Bleacher Report.
The Warriors were high on Wiseman's potential at the draft and believe his struggles as a rookie were circumstantial.
Serbian coach Dejan Milojevic, who guided Nikola Jokic during his time at Mega Basket in the Adriatic League, was recently hired by the Warriors for a player development role.
Wiseman's rookie season ended after 39 games due to a right meniscus tear.
Stephen Curry has decided not to participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
Curry had been trying to decide whether or not to play for the United States over the past few weeks. Curry has not played in the Olympics during his career.
On January 25th 2019, Kyrie Irving had Kevin Durant over for dinner at his home outside Boston on the eve of a nationally televised game between he Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, according to accounts described in Matt Sullivan's new book 'Can't Knock The Hustle.'.
Irving and Durant were a few months away from becoming free agents. For Irving, it would be his first time experiencing free agency. A few months prior, Irving publicly said he intended to re-sign with the Celtics but the death of his grandfather a few weeks later sent him into a period of depression.
Durant had won two straight titles with the Warriors, but he didn't think the team would get any better if Steve Kerr didn't hold Draymond Green accountable for his outbursts and was also occasionally irked by the attention Stephen Curry received from the media and fans.
Durant ate a vegan burger for the first time that night and a superteam began to take shape with Irving.
Irving and Durant saw the Nets as a franchise with two max salary slots, a flexible general manager and a few existing supporting pieces already in place.
"And from that point," Irving said, "we took the power back and put it in our hands."
Durant and Irving eventually committed to the Nets and also made sure they also signed DeAndre Jordan.
"I don’t think there was a moment when Ky took it over from us," a Nets executive involved in his recruitment told Sullivan. "We all understood — basically everybody who is following the NBA understands — he’s a personality. But we were at a point where we thought the organization is strong enough, and the culture is strong enough, to survive or absorb different personalities. Whether that assumption is true remains to be seen."
Stephen Curry remains undecided about participating in the Olympics this summer in Tokyo. Curry continues to explore the logistics of traveling to and playing in Tokyo and also curious which other players will be on the United States' team.
“I’m literally 50-50,” he said of his decision. “I probably need to decide in the next two weeks.”
Curry has never previously played in the Olympics.
The Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks are among the teams expected to have interest in Kelly Oubre in free agency.
Oubre had an up and down first season with the Golden State Warriors.
Oubre shot a career-low 32 percent from three-point range last season, but he had 50/43/74 splits in February.
Oubre signed a two-year, $30 million contract with the Phoenix Suns in restricted free agency.
Stephen Curry is "50-50" on whether he will play for Team USA in the Olympics this summer in Tokyo, a source tells The Athletic.
Curry has never participated in the Olympics in his career and would presumably be able to participate from a health standpoint since his season ended in May.
Damian Lillard is "believed to have strong interest in playing, though no final decision has been made."
LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both expected to opt out due to their injuries this season.
Jarron Collins and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to part ways as he pursues head coaching and associate head coach opportunities.
Collins joined the Warriors prior to the team's 2014-15 NBA championship campaign as a player development coach.
Collins was the defensive coordinator for the Warriors over the past two seasons.
"This is about myself and my own personal growth," Collins told ESPN's The Undefeated. "I had a conversation with (head coach) Steve (Kerr) and the Warriors. I've been there seven years and coached Hall of Fame players. We've won championships. I learned so much. For me, this is about taking the next journey and next step in my career.
"Obviously, Steve Kerr is the head coach and Mike Brown is the lead assistant. It's time for me to step out and see whatever opportunities are out there for me."
Collins has interviewed for head coaching vacancies in recent years with the Chicago Bulls, Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks.
