Warriors Have No Plans To Add A Center

Jan 24, 2022 8:44 AM

Despite Draymond Green's absence, the Golden State Warriors have no plans to add a center before the trade deadline. The Warriors are prioritizing internal players who know their offensive and defensive systems over adding outside help.

While Green is out with a disc issue in his back, which is causing him leg pain, Golden State is getting by with various other reserves. James Wiseman still isn't ready to play but, at some point, he may factor into the mix as well.

The Warriors have been linked to veterans Marc Gasol, should he decide to make a return to the NBA, and Paul Millsap, who will be moving on from the Brooklyn Nets. But Golden State doesn't have an open roster spot and doesn't appear likely to waive a player to create one either.

James Wiseman Underwent Minor Surgery On Knee In December

Jan 14, 2022 8:31 AM

James Wiseman underwent a minor surgery on his knee in mid-December, which has slowed his comeback.

Wiseman underwent surgery on his meniscus initially in April.

Wiseman's December surgery was a scope and cleanup to flush out some loose bodies. Wiseman has spent the past month building toward full-contact activity.

“His rehab is going really well,” Steve Kerr said. “His knee is feeling good. His spirits are up, he’s bouncing around practice — high energy. He’s getting ready to play with some contact. It’s exciting just to see a smile on his face and to see him back after this long of an absence.”

Klay Thompson To Have Minutes Limited, No Back-To-Backs

Jan 5, 2022 8:58 AM

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr still won't commit to a return date for Klay Thompson. But Kerr has some idea of his plans for Thompson upon his return.

Kerr said his "guess" is that Thompson will be limited to about 15-20 minutes per game. And that "there's a good chance" Thompson won't play both ends of back-to-backs. Kerr added this is as Thompson gets back up to speed.

There has been reporting that Thompson will return on Sunday after missing two full seasons. Thompson was initially out after tearing his left ACL during the 2019 NBA Finals. Then, during his rehab from that injury, Thompson tore his right Achilles. The two injuries have caused him to miss the last two full seasons, and almost half of the 2021-22 season.
