Magic preseason features T-Mac once, Shaq twice

Orlando fans will get a chance to take a look at two former Magic superstars in NBA preseason action in mid-late October.

Shaquille O'neal and the Miami Heat will play the Magic twice in Central Florida while Tracy McGrady will visit once.

The rest of the NBA's preseason and regular-season schedules will be released next week. Orlando will open up the season at home against the Bucks.

Rockets Still Searching for a Point Guard

An unexpected byproduct of the Warriors signing of Derek Fisher is that the Rockets, who were also courting Fisher, remain without a quality point guard.  This leaves the very available Nick Van Exel an option to join the Rockets, becoming a viable third scoring option.  Van Exel resides in Texas and has made it clear that he would welcome playing for any of the three Texas teams.

Other point guards being considered by the Rockets are Antonio Daniels and Kevin Ollie

Rudy T to the Rescue?

With Mike Krzyzewski not taking the job, it appears Rudy Tomjanovich is close to becoming the Los Angeles Lakers' head coach.

The Lakers' general manager, Mitch Kupchak, would not comment on a Houston television station's report that Tomjanovich had been offered the job, but did say the team had "identified the guy we want to hire."

"We hope to have a coach in a short period of time," Kupchak said. "If he becomes coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, he would be a wonderful selection."

Yao to Represent China

Houston Rockets center Yao Ming will lead a 12-member Chinese basketball team to the Athens Olympics.

The official Xinhua News Agency announced the lineup Monday, citing Chinese Basketball Association officials.

In addition to Yao and Menk Bateer, the team will include Liu Wei, Zhu Fangyu, Du Feng, Guo Shiqiang, Yi Jianlian, Li Nan, Chen Ke, Zhang Jingsong, Mo Ke and Zhang Yunsong.
